Craziness. What makes a good mod? If you want a mod who has no ability to join in on all the fun this site provides, you are on the wrong site.
I rarely delete, I always check things out if I see them reported, and I keep my personal opinions out of modding.
You would not believe how many people ask us to delete stuff they post, to save them from themselves.
The racial screen names you never see, the vulgar screen names you never see, the pornography, the spam, you are not witness too. Some slips by us, and we depend on the people of the site, to police for us, and notify us. We do not read every new post. I simply don't have time.
If I modded on my gut, my opinions, half the posts wouldn't be here.
Its a free exchange of ideas, thoughts, experiences and information. Well it used to be free, but looks like more than UPS reads us, but I digress.
Please enjoy the site for what it is, yours to share thoughts, and free. Please don't be judgemental of what you think we should do. I find that offensive. And you should all know, It is all about me

As for the derailment of threads, I see that all over this site. Another job of a moderator not doing his job. Hell, Hoax derails threads all the time.
