Clutch only for taking off in second and reverse. Or if I'm merging onto the highway, just hold the throttle wide open and clutch the gears. The old diesels with the Spicer 5's are bullet proof

I always preferred the stick to automatic....... just for the power and bad weather. on the GMC's if you double clutch you wont grind

I'm the opposite. I find the automatic to be better in snow. Of course "better" is not very much. The P-7 still sucks in snow.

I hardly ever use the clutch in my truck. I don't know if shifting gears without using the clutch is bad for the clutch, transmission or both but oh well if it is. It's better to have parts of a truck replaced rather than my knee.

After you get good at it. You can come to a stop sign. Using the brake. Drop it into 2ñd. For ur stop. Never using the clutch. Unless you do have to stop for a car. It is technically a stop.
