Micro management

If management wants to threaten and harass to fire us on a daily basis for simple things such as backing up too far or too many times or for driving .1 mile without a seat belt isn't it about damn time we knit pick and make sure they follow the contract to the letter? Supervisors shouldn't be working, drivers shouldn't have to train other drivers unless we are getting that extra 50 cent per hour, my truck should be kept in a clean well kept manner. We need to start :censored2:ing with them like they :censored2: with us. GRIEVE EVERYTHING without fear of retaliation.

I agree that supervisors should not being doing work of an hourly UNLESS all hourlies are exhausted. But, IMHO, drivers should train drivers on routes. Sups should train drivers how to initially do the job, but when it comes to actually route knowledge, I would like to train my cover drivers so as to make sure things get delivered to proper locations.

And cleanliness should be common sense but a lot of drivers have the mentality that the truck's not theirs so they don't care.

That is part of their game plan, "We got you on this so you better not grieve that." They keep us in such a state of fear we tend to let the small things slide because they will come back at us guns blazing with some trumped up nonsense under the heading of failure to work as directed.

Oh Yeah
That's why if it ever comes to a lawsuit or going to court, you better google lawyers who have beaten UPS, probably only way your going to win, and make sure if it ever comes to that, that any ups employees who are called as witnesses be included in the lawsuit to protect themselves. They should already be protected under the whistleblower act anyway. Its going to happen eventually just a matter of time before they have some crazyazz lawsuit and their exposed big time with the public. Place is like a ticking bomb lol.

All this micro stuff makes you wonder..........They need drivers to deliver packages...They hire them..then try hard to fire them??? Years ago when I had helpers during peak they told me they were promised (Ha) so many hours weekly only to be disappointed by weeks end..Then over the years little by little word gets around how Ups treats helpers..Next thing you know...They have a hard time finding and keeping them, and then all of a sudden Ups says now family members can work at Ups...When I started that was a no no..Pretty soon no matter how much per hour Ups pays they will not be able to find people to put up with their crap any length of time...Ups seems hell bent on hiring and firing..Very good for Morale..Boneheads in Atlanta need to wake up from their GREED induced coma.........

I'm surprised bonus hasn't been in court yet, like Dominoes Pizza years back and their 30 minute rule causing accidents.

Don't forget to utilize the over 70 language which enables you to call for help on 70+ pound packages. Same goes for you part-timers. "Making statements" requires people to remain united. Unfortunately.....remaining united is something that I have not seen at UPS for the past 2-3 contract periods.

As a side note.....there are very few "qualified" management employees left in our centers. Center Managers are dealing with young inexperienced supervisors that have no clue about UPS operations. I've seen managers working 15-17 hour days to make up for the lack of experienced supervisors. Gone are the days when we actually have supervisors that get compensated properly (receive stock for example) and have the proper experience to actually supervise and train drivers. Morale (both hourly and management) is at an all time low IMHO....

Current full-time non-stock receiving supervisors that I talk to with plan on leaving UPS as soon as possible. They have NO incentive to stay with a company that treats them like dogs. We had an office employee walk out the other day (after only three days on the job) because of the way he observed one of our center managers yell at the office employee that was training him. UPS is in a "tail spin" heading into this Christmas season.... I believe all this "short term profit strategy" (gutting management to the minimum, hiring low paid inexperienced "specialists", cutting routes, etc.) is catching up with them.

That's all im doing, moderation is the key as you grow older big daddy, 1 day at a time. My pace that im comfortable with everyday. If something pops up physically that I don't feel comfortable with, I have no problem shutting it down for a couple months and taking an Aflac vacation lol.:peaceful:
