And we were naive to expect "Change" and "Transparency". We have/had an imperial presidency for a very long time and with each passing adminstration it emblazens itself with even greater power regardless of party or campaign promises. Bush made all kinds of promises of a kindler, gentler Washington in 2000' only to have the office itself force an oppositie course. Obama made promises of transparency and yet his office demands and gets ever greater degrees of secrecy and non-disclosure until well after the fact when at all. It's the office itself and one has to wonder if the late comedian Bill Hicks had it right about event moments before any new President is sworn in. If you are unfamilar, each President elect is taken to the basement and sat in a dark room. A film begins to play showing a never before seen of what actually did happen in Dearly Plaza on Nov. 63' and once the film has played and the President Elect sits in the dark thinking on what he has just seen, a booming voice from the darkness asks, "Any Questions?" He's then taken upstairs and sworn in!
