For a lot of drivers with 28 or 29 plus years in with the company a signing bonus would be a good thing, if they are planning on retiring soon.

More importantly, it is usually given as a replacement to a raise which means it doesnt carry over year after year!!

Or, and I think this will be the case in 2013, a signing bonus will be offered by the company to get their two-tiered wage proposal for new FT drivers approved.
