Orion Compliance

I understand the idea of trying to utilize our time by sending us out/shuttling/waiting, depending on each particular situation. I'm convinced however that this issue will run headlong into any imagined miles saving that would be protected by Orion. No about of u turns, k turns or metro driveway backs can compensate for a double trip. I just know that our team will be handed another hot potato to take the place of the last hot potato. Try to make a challenging program look better than it's real life numbers reflect, by blaming workers at the bottom of the chain.

I would think mgt would OK turning off Orion when you have late air.

Nah, they still want you to run it just don't expect as high of a compliance percentage. In the real world if you get an orion dispatch that is too agressively modified there is no coming back from not following it in the AM. On other routes orion will be close to EDD with a few stops from the back half of the truck thrown in during NDAs and you can just skip those changes and run them later in the day when you're in the area.

If the route is relatively linear then Orion doesn't have much to screw up, but if you're in a relatively tight area Orion will turn your route on it's ear with stupid pointless changes that don't save mileage.

That would imply that your management team is even allowed to make operational decisions, which is not often the case. If they are under enough pressure to generate a compliance metric there is no limit to the utterly stupid lengths that they will go to in their pursuit of that number.

Our management team has all the leeway that upper management allows them to have. Little too none. They are merely the drones of the arbiters that pull the puppet strings. The 85% allowance is merely a carrot routinely tossed out for new program rollouts as appeasement that suggests the appearance of compassion on their part. It's only fooling the rookies.

I just do it, unless I am breaking a law. My Orion guy just sat down on the seat, said his back hurt just watching me. Says I need a new route. That fixes nothing. We got done, and even being yelled at 5xs by five people for not helping me, which I informed them I dont want him to, and hes not authorized to. And after they brought out the 73 pieces that would not fit in my truck, I was still underdispatched. I was 1.21 late with only a 7.6 planned day. Hogwash.

you gotta hear my center manager's "song and dance" when you want to get put on the list of 9.5's...... it took me 20 minutes of "you're stealing time" or "watching my performance", "please leave the office..." that I had to deal with to get on the list... famous lines were " fair days pay for a fairs days work"... 3 other drivers have told the same... lol

I know they are fantasy numbers, the Orion guy with me said even by their numbers it was at least an 8.5. Its just crap, that they keep loading me up, and cannot seem to make 8 hours for their world. Im still beat. It was a brutal day. And they keep saying, you only had a 7 hr day, we cant help it takes you 9.

Plus they will send you out with what they claim is 9 and in reality takes 11.
There has never been a realistic time allowance for low mileage bulk business routes.

The intent of UPS's so-called "time allowances" is to create a "standard" for each route that can only be met by working off of the clock. This fundamental and basic truth is and has been the foundation of UPS's entire business model for decades. Trying to "make scratch" while following the methods is no different from trying to win a casino game like blackjack or roulette; the games were never intended to be "fair" in the first place and regardless of your strategy it is a mathematical certainty that the house will win over the long haul.

Exactly you do the job by the book and it will be what it will be. Don't them idiots know once they put the telematics in and you cant cheat anymore it was going to slow the drivers down like a mother. Im done with their game I just rock em to sleep every night and make my wallet grow because of their stupidity lol. I don't worry about their numbers in the least little bit.

I was looking at my ORION screen on the monitor this morning that lists all your stops in order with an ETA for each one.

It had me doing several of my pickups between 10:00 and 11:00 in the morning.

The scheduled time for these pickups is between 3:30 and 4:00. So in other words...if I work as directed and follow ORION, I will be out of compliance on my pickups. If I work as directed and do my pickups within 15 min of their scheduled time, I will be out of compliance with ORION.

Does the right hand know what the left hand is even doing?
