[QUOTE="vantexan, post: 1077349, member: 24302"] There you go again. The small business owners I was worried about were in the $200k-$250k+ range that Obama was going after. I agree with you, in order to pay down the debt we need more revenue. Thank you for letting me make this point. We are in the situation we're in because of runaway government spending and the spender-in-chief is President Obama. We should have just let the tax increases and spending cuts kick in and then every working American would understand the consequences of overspending. But that would have been political suicide. Is the current plan enough revenue? No. Were the increases Obama wanted enough revenue? No. Know why? Because the Democrats refuse to discuss spending cuts because their political base would crucify them if the cash spigot is turned off. We should have never gotten to this point but now that we're here tell me how we're going to solve the debt issue if we don't curb spending? The Republicans think that if we hold down taxes enough the economy will bounce back and the gov't revenue will greatly increase, thus solve a lot of problems. Maybe, but things are so screwed up now I'm not certain that anyone beyond management will greatly benefit. Meanwhile Obamacare has increased gov't regulations by thousands of pages which is starting to strangle business. New regs, new taxes, higher premiums, and a demonstrated unwillingness to rein in spending. We are literally the proverbial lemmings marching towards the cliff, and all people want to do is demonize the other side and rip into those who have more than them. We are getting the gov't we deserve. And P.S. Romney was right, 47% of the population pay no income tax. We keep talking about the wealthy paying their fair share, but they already pay the bulk of it. And who do you think are paying the bulk of state income taxes? Property taxes that fund local needs? Yes, let's keep taking from them to pay for the social safety net needed to support the unemployed who were laid off so that the wealthy can pay ever higher taxes.
