Your time study was a snap shot of what your day is usually like. And in a lot of cases it is. Management can play around a bit, to screw things up by taking stops that you usually have and giving them away, or putting stops on you that you never have. In our center there are large sections that have never been time studied because of this.

But as a rule, they are fairly consistant. If the person that did the timestudy was competent, and walked the route with you as they are instructed to do, then you should have gotten a decent time allowance, no matter what you are delivering.

And if you get a lousy study, and they ride with you and you still get beat, then usually there is a problem with the time study on that route. We have several drivers that fall under that heading, and management knows and agrees that it is off, so no big problem.

"The excuse from the acct. executive was they couldn't find the place"

We had one Acct Exec write down that he had spoken to John Smith at Acme Co., and couldnt get any new volume. The driver was very upset when he read this because John had been a good friend (but had died 6 months ago).
