Paying for health care

I Read Steves blog tonight and was intrigued.
His doctor prescribed an MRI.These machines cost upwards of $1M .
He was in the next day! Here in Canada the cost of an MRI is covered,
but you could end up dead waiting the 6 mo or so before its your turn.
Does your private health care plan cover these?
Heres the cost in a few states
Orlando, FLMRI$2,229Dallas, TX - MRI Testing Facility AMRI$3,624Dallas, TX - MRI Testing Facility BMRI$2,172San Diego, CAMRI$2,826Salt Lake City, UTMRI$1,694Detroit, MIMRI$3,461New York, NY - MRI Testing Facility AMRI$1,785New York, NY - MRI Testing Facility BMRI$2,199Raleigh, NCMRI$3,001Omaha, NEMRI$2,502

That's what happens when you are in a country with a National Health Care Plan.

So what is the real truth about Socialized medicine? I just watched Micheal Moores "Sicko" and according to that documentary there isn't any more waiting for health care in Canada than there is here in the US. I just made an appointment today for a physical and the earliest I could get in is almost 2 weeks . It takes my wife at least a month to get an appointment for her doctor.

I will admit upfront that I am not that familiar with the Canadian medical system but I do know that a number of professional and amatuer athletes from the Montreal area, which is about 1 hour from Plattsburgh, used to come down to our area to see specialists to avoid the waiting period to see specialists in Canada. I don't see this as much today so perhaps things have changed.

Before and after pictures are required. You may post them here, or perhaps the "How's the view?" thread would be more appropriate.

Also, Hoax, please call my wife and talk her into this. I'm willing to part with the 5k......

paying for health care.......a grand a month here.

I think if I were under Canadian care I would still be waiting to have my surgery. I think they wait longer. Some things just can't wait.....and since I exceeded $120,000.00 last year, I think a grand a month is OK.
