Pre-strike, pre-internet shopping and back when local management was allowed to manage. Volume always dropped, and we were given the choice of hours worked or a full day. And, we kept our helpers.

Then some dork in another center filed a grievance about people opting for the short days.

Be as organized as you can possibly be. It makes a huge difference.

Be upfront with your management team about your helpers performance. If he or she is useless, you need to make it known.

DO NOT RUSH. Accidents happen when you rush. Maintain a safe and steady pace. Keep in mind that you are responsible for the other life that's in that jump seat.
