Surprise, I'm not a PETA supporter! My sons used to hunt, many of my friends still do. I fish, even tried hunting once, didn't care for it. Actually I was only hunting for fur for trout flies. I prefer an angus beef to venison(rats with hooves), rabbit, squirrel etc. I don't mind pheasant or duck on occasion, though I'd just as soon buy it farm raised. I know how they kill beef cattle, know how they raise them, too. I know how my husband grills them too... mighty tastily, over mesquite! One anecdote: There was one of the drivers I knew that had gone hunting every year since he was 16. First week deer camp with the boys, bla bla. Anyway, something almost happened a couple of years ago for the first time ever, which would have ruined deer camp. It seems as though one of the younger men, a first timer, had actually shot at a deer, really trying to hit it! That had never happened in over 30 years. Girls, if the old man wants to hunt, fish, camp, whatever for a week a year, let him go, and go out for dinner every night he's gone! Seems fair to me, after all, the gear and licenses/permits all add up, so take advantage of the situation.
