Pornography: Harmless entertainment or dangerous sin?

To all,

Over the years here at the BC I have noticed casual references to the use of pornography by some of the posters.

I thought it would be interesting to discuss this little talked about problem in our society today.

Please read: The Dangers of Pornography

I know you will probably view this a pot stirring post and I do hope it stirs the pot of your conscience regarding this horrible ill in our society.

Do you believe pornography is harmless entertainment or serious and dangerous sexual sin?

Who, in their right mind would want their sons and daughters, husbands and wives to be making a living in this manner?

Where is the intergrity in the mind and heart of a family man or woman that will support this industry with 1 cent of there money or 1 second of their time?

I don't say this in condemnation or judgement, I have been there and done that.

Today I choose to fight the good fight and live with integrity in this area of my life.

Peace.

Sincerely,
I

Does it really have to be one or the other? Could it be like alcohol and some people consume in moderation and for others it is almost all-consuming and problematic?

I have no problem with pornography as long as all of the participants are of legal age. I think anyone who possesses or views child pornography should be locked up for the rest of their lives.

Food for thought, perhaps food for the conscience or soul.

At one time I was one who too had no problem with pornography, I judge no one. Judgement is for the supreme ruler of the universe and the ruler of our souls.

I admittedly was wrong and today I view pornography as a great evil in the American culture and increasingly in global culture.

For anyone who doesn't have a problem with pornography, views it in moderation, thinks it is a to each his own kind of thing or even simply views it OK as long as the participants are of legal age then I challenge you with this concept.

If any female member of your immediate family(particularly wives and daughters for those who have them) was to choose pornography as a means of employment and were of legal age to do so would you support her employment by viewing pornographic content that she is involved in?

Sincerely,
I

I wouldn't view his/her films. That's creepy. I would be interested to hear her/his view on coworkers and industry.

How is porn a sin when we would all be naked anyway if Adam and Eve had never sinned?

It's all a matter of degree. Just a hundred years ago, it would be pornographic to see even the beginning of a womans neck. Heaven forbid she should show her ankle!
Even now in most backwards Muslim countries, think of how a woman must be clothed.

If a woman can make money doing this and wants to, what's the problem?

And anybody convicted of producing it needs to be taken out behind the courthouse and shot in the back of the head.

To the above responders to this post,

Do you believe pornography is harmless entertainment or dangerous sin?

My attitudes about porn underwent a drastic change when (a) I got sober and (b) I remarried a wonderful lady who had an equally wonderful 10 yr old daughter. My stepdaughter is 24 now, and the thought of her being involved in porn makes me sick.

That being said, I am even more opposed to censorship and the idea of a "nanny-state" government. Like it or not, some men wanna look at boobies and I dont want to live under the thumb of a government that would try to control what we are and are not allowed to look at or read or enjoy.

Ideally, there would be some way to regulate the porn/prostitution industry so that the women who are involved in it also control it for themselves instead of being exploited. Most of the women who are involved in the sex industry are victims of sexual abuse, and even if they are of legal age many have drug problems and they are being exploited by the men who control the industry and pretty much treat the women like cattle.

I dont know what the answer is, but I dont think it lies in censorship or government control over personal life choices.

My attitudes changed when I saw an interview with Max Hardcore. What an ass. But they're in every industry.

correction : front of the head / no blindfold

No..back of the head, and a revolver with 5 blanks and one live round. Pull the trigger at random intervals ( once per hour or so) so they never know when its coming, and scare the :censored2: out of them with the blank rounds for half a day before the live one eventually goes off.
