Settle down.

Japan has never apologized for the 'Rape of Nanking', or the Korean 'comfort women'.

Or a thousand other transgressions.

It's an open question whether or not we should have dropped the bomb at all.

And, Japan was super-guilty of brutal war crimes, obviously.

I still propose that the first bomb was enough.

They were on their last legs anyway.

Of course, hindsight is 20/20...

These are opinions, not fact.

Facts beat opinions every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Yes they are opinions, of people who lived it, and had far more knowledge about the situation than you or I.

Not some armchair quarterback like yourself who is so star spangled brainwashed that he refuses to admit his country could have done anything wrong.

Fact-Japan did not UNCONDITIONALLY SURRENDER until AFTER 2 atomic bombs were dropped on them AND the Soviet Union invaded the northern islands.
They were trying to surrender before we ever dropped an atomic bomb. It was only a matter of time. Dropping the bombs wasn't about winning it was about a power struggle with the Russians.

OK, we drop an atomic bomb 5 miles off the coast of Japan.

Then we drop leaflets saying we have 10 more and ready to go.

And if they don't decide to surrender after the leaflets are dropped?

Then what?

And remember, we now on have 1 atomic bomb left.

Guy, we were about to defeat them without the A-bomb.

(They didn't know we had 1 bomb, or 2 bombs, or 30 bombs...)

Annoy a liberal today. Hit them with facts.

They were trying to surrender under their terms.

You really just don't get it, do you?

Sure.

Because the were so nice and friendly.

They didn't want to be at war with us anymore and couldn't understand why we were amassing troops for and invasion.

Thank god none of the GOOD GUYS on bc believe the garbage you spew.

It's sad that you do believe that garbage.

They DID NOT UNCONDITIONALLY SURRENDER AFTER THE 1ST OR 2ND BOMB WERE DROPPED.

Why can't you get that FACT.

Was Hiroshima Necessary?

It's a long read, but here it is.

(And the answer is, no, the atomic bombs didn't cause Japan to surrender).

..."The fact is that as far as the Japanese militarists were concerned, the atomic bomb was just another weapon. The two atomic bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki were icing on the cake, and did not do as much damage as the firebombings of Japanese cities. The B-29 firebombing campaign had brought the destruction of 3,100,000 homes, leaving 15 million people homeless, and killing about a million of them. It was the ruthless firebombing, and Hirohito's realization that if necessary the Allies would completely destroy Japan and kill every Japanese to achieve "unconditional surrender" that persuaded him to the decision to end the war. The atomic bomb is indeed a fearsome weapon, but it was not the cause of Japan's surrender, even though the myth persists even to this day."

We could have dropped one bomb 5 miles off their coastline as a display, and then dropped leaflets all over Japan saying that we had ten more ready to go, you have three days to surrender.

In either case, the second bomb was unnecessary.

The first bomb did not impress them enough to surrender why would one dropped of the coast do the trick?

The man talks of a world free of nuclear weapons but the gun free zone of his own (alleged) home city shows who will still have illegal arms and what happens when only the criminal element of society is armed.

We need to send a follow up apology to the families of the innocent victims that died in Pearl Harbor for the actions of our spineless leader's sublime backstabbing.

There is nothing honorable in killing innocent women and children. And those words come from a three war vet.
