The prez. thinks he won the Nobel Peace Prize when in actuality it's the Nobel Peas Prize and Birdseye will be sending him frozen peas for the rest of his little old pea-pickin life.

Great back patting for the narcissist........I wonder how this all fits in with his "war meetings" today ????????????

I thought that it was very ironic that the day that he gets awarded the peace prize he has to make a decision to send more troops to Afghanistan.

The President deserves this award. He's brought our country together like never before. There is so much peace and harmony between Americans, especially on this forum board.

Candidate Obama, was alot different that president Obama. Another award to stroke the man's ego. Contrary to popular belief by our left of left members here( I can think of two) I want this president to do well, but we can disagree with him with those policies that are, well wacky.

Agree, to me the award, now and forever more will have zero meanings. What the hell has he done. I doubt now that even his wife will be able to be around his arrogants.

If anybody is capable of viewing America from "across the pond", you will realize this is a slap in the face, to Obama's predeccessor and his residue luggage and thuggery policy. The arrogance and smuggishness(is that a word?) eminating from the Cowboy Neo-Con diplomacy that the World is expecting an affirmation from Obama of good intentions and expectations to deliver a more diplomatic and peaceful approach....

So the award is a bribe for Obama to be peaceful?

By all means, must have been hundreds, if not thousands others to chose from. And, I agree what did Obama actually do to deserve it ?
I could think of atleast one group that would be much better deserving. That would be the head of the Red Cross, that goes into any nation, regardless of politics or wars to help.

:wink2:Klein,
Be careful what you say. You will be branded a racist. You must say that you are extremely happy and proud for President Obama and America for receiving this very deserved honor. He obviously has done more for peace in the world than any living person . Lets list what he has done:

??????? O/K I guess I must risk being called a racist also ---He did not deserve this award----the award has turned into a liberal paper weight.:dissapointed:

If he was smart, he wouldn't even accept it, and tell them to hang on to it , until he actually does get his ways, (some sort of peace, somewhere).
I believe that would be a smart political move , too.
He could jump up a few points in his approval rating if he did so.

Accepting it, might drop those points a few.

Why not? It's not the most honest type of politics, but I wouldn't put it past the norwegians to encourage more international cooperation and diplomacy from the world's leading [waning?] power.

In fact, "Nobel Committee head Thorbjoern Jagland said: 'It was because we would like to support what he is trying to achieve.'" [BBC]

World's most well-liked countries

Lauren Sherman, ForbesTraveler.com - Tue Oct 6, 4:47 PM
For the first time since 2005 when Simon Anholt--an independent policy adviser to 20 national, regional and city governments--started conducting the survey, the U.S. has been named the most admired country in the world, climbing six spots in the rankings from 2008. Rounding out the top five are other beloved countries like France, Germany, the U.K. and Japan.
Anholt attributed the U.S.' rank to global confidence in Obama. He also believes that former president George W. Bush's incredibly unpopular foreign policy pulled the country down in terms of image. After he left office this year, the only way for the U.S. to go was up. "The country's position was artificially depressed by Bush," says Anholt.
An increase in U.S. popularity meant a decrease for its neighbor Canada. The country dropped three spots.
"I prophesied that if the image of the U.S. ever improved, the perception of Canada would suffer," says Anholt. While Canada scores high for its friendly people and beautiful landscape, outsiders know little else about the country's culture. All they do believe, Anholt deduces, is that Canada is the opposite of the United States in policy. "If the U.S. is illiberal, intolerant and aggressive, then Canada is liberal, tolerant and passive," he says. "Now the seesaw has gone the other way, and Canada is losing its identity."

Has it not always been awarded to anti capitalists, socialists, and the UN and Kofi Annon and the like? Why would you be suprised.

Well, it seems as though you all are in agreement with the Taliban and Iran.

Seriously, what is wrong with having hope for the future?

Why do you all hate America?
