So basically what they're admitting to is that they were sucked in by the "hope and change" rhetoric the same as 52% of the US voters.

Eugene Robinson, Oct 13:

"Some of Obama's most strident critics, however, just can't give it a rest. They use words like "farce" and "travesty," as if there were always universal agreement on the worthiness of the Nobel peace laureate. Does anyone remember the controversy over Henry Kissinger or Yasser Arafat or friend.W. de Klerk?

The problem for the addlebrained Obama-rejectionists is that the president, as far as they are concerned, couldn't possibly do anything right, and thus is unworthy of any conceivable recognition. If Obama ended world hunger, they'd accuse him of promoting obesity. If he solved global warming, they'd complain it was getting chilly. If he got Mahmoud Abbas and Binyamin Netanyahu to join him around the campfire in a chorus of "Kumbaya," the rejectionists would claim that his singing was out of tune.

Let the rejectionists fulminate and sputter until they wear their vocal cords out. Politically, they're only bashing themselves. As Republican leaders -- except RNC Chairman Michael Steele -- are beginning to realize, "I'm With the Taliban Against America" is not likely to be a winning slogan. "

every day when more news is released of our beloved President's feats, this song pops into my head. Come on Moreluck . Sing along and face towards Washington, D.C. as you do and send your love and best wishes and, most importantly your unconditional, unquestioning support towards Mr. Obama.

You know, I never really noticed before, but Carly Simon is really ugly !!!:knockedout:

I could see why you might think that (dental issues perhaps). But the music that flows through her and out of her is beautiful and really lights her up. She is one of the few singers whose voice doesn't need to be embellished or hidden behind a wall of sound.

Camille Paglia said this today

"It's true he has accomplished nothing thus far and did not remotely deserve the Nobel Peace Prize, a gift carrying a terrible curse. The Nobel should have been the crown of Obama's career and not the butt of jokes. Yet the award has tangible significance insofar as Obama has endorsed the humanistic (if unrealistic) dream of a world without nuclear weapons. The lion may never lie down with the lamb, but politics will always be mired in seething, selfish squalor unless idealistic leaders appeal to our higher nature."

In other words they put the cart before the horse and that's obvious to anyone without blinders on!!

If Obama can bring world peace by the end of his term or make significant gains in doing so...then and only then should he be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts!:peaceful:

Majority of Nobel jury 'objected to Obama prize'

OSLO (AFP) - Three of the five members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee had objections to the Nobel Peace Prize being awarded to US President Barack Obama, the Norwegian tabloid Verdens Gang (VG) reported Thursday.

"VG has spoken to a number of sources who confirmed the impression that a majority of the Nobel committee, at first, had not decided to give the peace prize to Barack Obama," the newspaper said.

In a surprise move last Friday, the Nobel committee attributed the Nobel Peace Prize to Obama less than nine months after he had taken office.

The rest of the story that Klein left off:

The committee, appointed by the Norwegian parliament, honoured Obama for "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."

"The committee was unanimous," its influential secretary Geir Lundestad told AFP on Friday.

But Inger-Marie Ytterhorn, who represented the right-wing populist Progress Party on the committee, led the way in objecting to the choice of Obama because she questioned his ability to keep his promises, the newspaper said.

It also said the representative of the Conservative Party, Kaci Kullmann Five, and Aagot Valle, the representative of the Socialist Left, had objections.

The choice for Obama was however strongly supported by committee chairman Thorbjoern Jagland and Sissel Roenbeck, both representatives of the Labour Party.

The members of the committee represent their parties but do not sit in Norway's parliament.

"Each year, we start with many candidates and many different points of view and agree as the discussions move along. This year was no exception," Lundestad commented Thursday.

The newspaper quotes Ytterhorn and Five as saying they both supported the committee's final decision.

Great, posting a link to a self described 'anarcho-libertarian' who also believes in a conspiracy regarding the destruction of the WTC.

That's what I would call an indisputable source.

People who associate with such people should be publically condemned and ostracized from the presense of "the good people." The state should protect society from such pariah, round em up and put em away, right?

So he sez he didn't know what he was signing? Really? You Serious?

Look at the petition itself and see if it looks like some document containing fraud as to what it's true intent is! Seems pretty damn clear to me and check out those names would ya! My God look at all those anarcho libertarians on there just formenting revolution in the name of individualist liberty. No doubt V for Vindetta is on continous play in the home of:

Ed Asner, actor, activist
Catherine Austin Fitts, Asst. Secretary of Housing in the first Bush administration
Michael Badnarik, Libertarian candidate for President , opps, I'll give you that one but in pure principle I could argue he's a minarchist not an anarchist!
David Cobb, attorney, national presidential candidate, US Green Party
John Cobb, Ph.D., theologian, co-author, For the Common Good
Daniel Ellsberg, author, Secrets: A Memoir of Vietnam and the Pentagon Papers
Janeane Garofalo, actress, comedienne, talk show host, Air America Radio How'd she slip in among all these anarchist types?
Morton Goulder, Deputy Secretary for Intelligence and Warning under Nixon, Ford, and Carter
Richie Havens, singer, songwriter, performer, artist
Thom Hartmann, radio host; author, Unequal Protection
(Name removed by request 9/10/2009) Hmmm, I wonder who that is?
Mimi Kennedy, actress, Dharma and Greg, progressive activist
John Joseph Kennedy, Democratic Write-in Presidential Candidate for 2004
Cynthia McKinney, five-term Congresswoman from Georgia She was on the last conference call at C4SS for sure!
Ralph Nader, Independent candidate for President

Fact is Van Jones was a coward who sold out and choose power over principle but then in truth, maybe he was like a lot of folks from 2000' to 2008' who talked one way and now in 2009' they walk and act another. It's called hypocrites!

Merrick also writes reviews of classical music over at Amazon so I guess we're to reject that as well or is just the fact that you just fear someone actually living their life in some form or fashion different from yours. Geez, if I didn't know better, I'd think you were republican and had it in for gay people!

I always knew you and Tie were made for each other!

Love doesn't lie!

:happy-very:

Fact is, I'd sign it too if gven the chance. I do have some questions and considering the allegations coming from Sibel Edmonds and others, it just seems beyond the pale that our gov't had no clue of what was about to take place. I don't go the distance (no hard evidence IMO) and think the planes were dark/black CIA planes not airlines' planes, (that myth easily busted, even a caveman cold do it) they were un-manned, planted with explosives or that the towers were det rigged before 9/11 but I do question the alledged ineptness of the gov't not seeing the signs and the ineptness of our air defense systems on that day. And why has accountablity for such gone unanswered?

I do think real transparency on this issue is needed and the 12 questions poised have some degree of relevance. Answer them in transparent and honest maner and then put to bed once and for all. So there you have it, another anarcho-libertarian conspiracy theorist is I!

Would gov't use crisis for it's own ends? Sure, done so many times in the past but is it not interesting that you advocate a society in which gov't can do and manipulate people that way and I advocate a system where gov't can never centralize enough to be used for such a thing. So much for your noblity and compassion for the good of humanity! In the end you're just one of these too!

Hey how does it feel now supporting a known BABY KILLER?

Hmm! Words that are a blast from the past.
