Windfall Profits This past week when the oil companies posted their profits, up 80% plus in most cases, the hounds in Washington started making noise. As for the rest, you just missed the entire point I guess so I'll just leave it that you win the argument and I lose or whatever you want to claim at this point. OK, Yeah the might makes rights is one of the big reasons I'm so opposed to large scale gov't. Again it's like giving the bank robber the key to the door and the vault combination. As for Sci-fi, I also enjoy the thought provoking nature of it. The one thing I always admired about Roddenbury with his Star Trek society is he always threw in the human factor, might makes right if you will, to let everyone know it's still there. You know the funny thing is my wife said yesterday she saw gas at $2.23 a gallon and she was surprised but I pointed out the capacity along the gulf coast was coming on line increasing inventories and in some cases maybe product backup as people had cut their driving habits in light of the high fuel prices. Now as they come down people will return to normal but the gas prices will likely stay about $2 a gallon as that prices shock value has been lost to the $3 stuff we saw already. I told her if the public would stick to their guns we could drive it down further as the inventories backup but we won't. It seems to ring true the old saying, "we've met the enemy and it is us!" C ya folks, I'm otta here!
