One point that has not been mentioned thus far is supplemental health insurance. This is insurance which pays benefits directly to you in addition to and independent of whatever your medical or STD/LTD pays you. I have several policies with Combined but most of you may be more familiar with Aflac. These policies have come in handy when I had my surgeries and when I was injured both off and on the job.
