So I've been with UPS for almost 11 years but only recently started doing some saturday and occasionally during the week air driving...
my Inside rate is over $18/hour, $13.50 when air driving

I hate taking the $5 pay cut right now when they ask me to brown up and drive, has anyone heard of the company at least matching the inside pay rate for long standing employees like this or am I just stuck waiting out this progression until it catches up?

I've searched for an answer and cannot seem to find a definitive solution

You are being paid correctly; yes, it sucks, but that is how the contract is written.

You are stuck waiting for progression. At least it is only a two year progression. When did 11 years make someone a long standing employee?

When those 11 years are all spent on the preload.

shoot I would consider anyone who makes it 10+ years long standing, especially starting the week I turned 18 ;)

With 11 years I'm surprised you haven't bid on a full time driver job (if you haven't that is).

  9. You should Be red circled.

I tried it a couple years back, and while I was hitting scratch by day 12, I ultimately decided it wasn't for me. I do some personal training and other things and the preload shift and being done by noon at the latest works out much better for me.

I'm not sure what that exactly means, never heard that term used before in my center

Red circled would be before 1982 unless there was another pay cut for new part timers.

It means that you would be held at your current pay rate until progression catches up to you.

Does not apply in this situation.

  15. When you switch job classifications you don't go backwards in pay. You won't get a raise for awhile.

^^ this! I get told very regularly by other drivers they would do what I did in a heart beat if they could.

That is exactly why so many drivers are jumping on those 22.3 jobs.

  18. I just had to pass one up.

He is working under Art 40 air operations. Language in Art 40 succeeds all other Articles in the contract.

Air drivers can get screwed in so many ways.
