Pop star Michael Jackson dead: report

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Pop giant Michael Jackson, who took to the stage as a child star and went on to set the world dancing to the thumping rhythms of his music for decades, died Thursday, TMZ website reported. He was 50.
"We've just learned Michael Jackson has died," TMZ said.
"Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back," the entertainment site said.
There was no official confirmation of the reported death and spokespersons for Jackson could not be reached for comment.
Earlier, the Los Angeles Times said that the singer had been rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital by fire department paramedics who found him not breathing when they arrived at the singer's home.
The newspaper said paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene before taking him to the UCLA Medical Center hospital.
Jackson had been due to start a series of comeback concerts in London on July 13 running until March 2010. The singer, whose hits include "Thriller" and "Billie Jean," had been rehearsing in the Los Angeles area for the past two months.
The shows for the 50 London concerts sold out within hours of going on sale in March.
Jackson started out as a child star in the band "The Jackson 5" more than 40 years ago.
He has lived as a virtual recluse since his acquittal in 2005 on charges of child molestation.
There have been concerns about Jackson's health in recent years but the promoters of the London shows, AEG Live, said in March that Jackson had passed a 4-1/2 hour physical examination with independent doctors.

Wow, thats a shocker. He was the same age as me, I grew up listening to The Jackson 5 and Motown. Great talent, weird personal life.

Listened to him and loved his music back in the days. Lately didn't care for him. He seemed like he was trying to be someone he wasn't meant to be.

Rip Michael.

I hope he won't join the ranks of other stars, such as Morrison, Presley , Tupac who supposedly are still "living" after they are buried.

I personally think he had no intentions of doing those sold out London concerts. I believe he wanted the big money upfront for his debt.

He may have even taken something to cause this heart attack....time will tell.

I just watched that 5 hr. Jackson Family Movie within this past week. Lots of great songs.

I hope his 3 kids get a chance at a 'normal' life without the burkas.

TVSTEVIE, that brings back memories. I think that cartoon was my first exposure to how the jackson 5 actually looked. Even at a young age, I thought the animators were exageratting the movements when the cartoon characters were dancing and performing. Then one day, I saw actual footage of them dancing and performing, and realized the animators captured the essence of their movements.

A great talent but his personal life was fodder for the daily tabloids. To see the dramatic transformation from normal black kid to something nothing short of scary.

I hope people would go easy on the jokes but you know nothing is sacred anymore.

On a side note, this will give Jon and Kate a chance to catch their breath before the focus is put back on to them and the kids.

New working title for the show--"Jon or Kate plus 8"

What if this was all made up? Can you imagine him, showing up for the first concert doing the moonwalk. People say, Elvis is still alive.
