What about sympathy for folks fighting the demon before they became a "poor celebrity/sports star"? He first sought help for addiction at the age of 22 BEFORE his acting career took off.

he's been using all along though.... prolly got better/cleaner stuff

I've seen people turn their lives around in the AA program........no pity, just hard work and determination and the recognition of a higher power.

I used to ride with some Angels, Hangmen, Barhoppers, some Pagans on east Coast and a couple other clubs up in MA. ( I was an independent) have seen and known many druggies. have no sympathy for them. I really don't care if they die but they always take down people with them like Hoffman did. ( 3 children to start with )

the real bad part is that a lot of young people looked up to Hoffman ( brilliant actor, BTW ). Cobain, Hendricks, Morrison, and dozen of others . they thinks its "cool" to imitate their hero's.

I wonder how many "nobodies" have died from drug overdoses trying to be like their hero's? Or how many lives have been damaged or destroyed?
