West coast grocery chain. Just read that almost half of the union employes showed up for work yesterday. Won't be a very successful strike if that happens everyday.

Meanwhile on the East coast , Shaw's { owned by SuperValu } has announced 700 positions to be cut from 169 stores .

Shaws was actually the last grocery strike I believe. I think raleys is prob fighting a losing cause it's all about health insurance which I commend them for sticking up for it. However the big sticking point is retired people get to keep the health insurance even after they are eligible for Medicare.
