Republicans and Democrats: No both parties are not the same

Am I to believe then that conservatives are all things for all people? Perhaps the only "true" Americans? Nice to see that the right is finally coming out and saying exactly what they want: conservative, one party rule. On a side note, I did notice that on immigration the author was thunderously silent on Reagan's amnesty, not that I was surprised.

Conservatism is rooted in the individual and empowering said individual to succeed by eliminating unnecessary government constraints. When the individual succeeds, the civil society succeeds. Liberalism on the other hand focuses on controlling the individual for the supposed greater good of the people. This rarely works out and usually ends in tyranny.

C.S. Lewis stated it best when quoted "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

You subscribe to a "nanny state" skewed view of the democratic party. Some go too far but not most. Clinton, Rendel, Obama, Harold Ford Jr., Steven Rattner, all are democrats and none are promoters of such a policy. You have used a fine author to put forth a false choice.

That's my point. Brett wants to say all dems are the same, all repubs are the same, conservatives are wonerful and liberals are socialists. As Carlin said, "Nice trick, if you can pull it off."

I can read Bubba's motives.......he's laying the ground for Hillary to run in 2016. He 'pretends' to be for Obama, but then he say's stuff like, "remember me? I was the one who balanced 4 out of the 8 budgets?" Slick Willy still applies!

Oh, he's slick alright. But don't think for one moment he wants anything but an Obama win right now. If he's going to be campaigning for Obama now, the last thing he needs going into '16 is looking like a loser.

No. I like to watch brett plod straight ahead through his foolish idealism. It amuses me.

It amuses me when I'm able to pry the sad truth from you that you are so shallow that you will support a man for President simply because he has a D next to his name and shares nearly the same level of melatonin in his skin as you. Tell me, when it is pinpointed that the fall of this great country began with the election of Barack Obama what you are going to tell your kids when they ask you why you allowed them to live in a world where getting by is a struggle? Are you going to say that you had to vote for Barack Obama because he is black? Are you going to say you had to vote for him because he is a democrat? There is simply no other logical reasoning to vote for him other than skin color for yourself and people who think like you, but I'm curious how you are going to make it up to your kids for voting in a man who will make their futures unfathomably difficult.

I'm surprised no one has offered an argument of the original article linked as to it's actual source. I'll just dangle that carrot there and move on.
