Resi Delivery Observations

Don't ask " is it cold enough for you"? or "is it hot enough for you"? You can't imagine the control it takes not to hit you in the face when we hear that for the 50th time in one day.

Its 6:45 pm. 2 days before Christmas. Temperature hovering freezing. Rain, is pouring and I am soaked from head to toe. Just put your precious Christmas package on your porch carefully rapped in a DR bag. Navigating the shrubs, bushes, blow up Santa’s, Christmas lights and other crap in your yard as I head back to the truck. With my back to your front door, I hear the door open and can hear the Christmas music playing. I can smell the fresh backed cookies. Hear the laughter of a family spending time together. I can see the smoke coming out of your chimney. You see me and feel the need to give a happy “Merry Christmas” I don’t turn around, as I have to keep my pace up to get all the deliveries off the truck. I raise my drenched, frozen, tired arms and then I raise my two middle fingers as I walk back to the truck to finish my deliveries…… mumbling “Merry &%^@ ***@ ***^@”. God I would of loved to of done that. well, I did mumble that as I raised my hand to give a half hearted wave back.

:peaceful:

Glad you're not my UPS guy. The person that was happily saying Merry Christmas, was holding up a card for you. The card contained $50 and a gift card to your local steakhouse. So, Merry Christmas to you, too.

A little FYI, I was being sarcastic. I did pretty well with the gift cards and cash, considering I was only seasonal. Even got several compliments from customers that appreciated the extra mile I went vs. what they have received in the past. I am certainly professional and courteous. But, even so, there is a part of me that certainly had enough of the Christmas season, being that I missed so much time with my family. Part of the price I paid by choices I have made.
You must be a Saint if you never got tired and frustrated with work day. During Christmas dinner, surrounded by all the ones I love, we had a good laugh over the story. Seems as though my family and friends have a sense of humor and can relate to having a bad day. Glad you are not in my family (another sarcastic comment).

funny too, that you choose to direct a comment to me, but didn't say that to Rod who said "You can't imagine the control it takes not to hit you in the face ". Perhaps you have and agenda with me? Or am I being to sensitive?

Take it easy, fella. That was my version of dry wit. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and the whole KOCH family.

Rod's retired and has paid his dues, can't really bust his chops for much of anything. You on the other hand, are fair game, my little rookie friend. Having just completed boot camp, it's time to swing with the big boys.:surprised:

Though honestly, it was nothing personal, just talking a little smack, my friend. :happy-very:

If you need to borrow one the brass one my wife put herself through college with is around the house somewhere.
Hopefully your wife has a great sense of humor. It would awkward explaining how that pole got shoved up where the sun don't shine to the people at the ER.

On second thought, even though she`s not home I need to contact Cheryl to see about getting that removed before my wife removes something else. But yes she is well seasoned in my sense of humor.

Not all that hard to explain, they would just assume he "slipped and fell on the pole", it's not like they haven't heard it many many times before.

Then again, if you told them at the ER that you worked at UPS, they would understand. After all, you were just keeping the access point open.
