[QUOTE="Shiftless, post: 1131161, member: 47472"] Hey LOOK my First Post! OK get over it! I aint nobody special! Regarding the healthcare costs to retiree's. I retired 05/05/05 so in a couple days it will be 8 years ago I retired. I was covered under the South Western Region (California). When I retired (SoCal) it was and has always been that retiree's get the same benefits as a working Rank and File UPS Teamster. We do have to pay a $50 monthly administrative fee to handle these services to UPS directly at this time. That fee use to be $25 roughly 10 years ago. Not bad for inflation for the paper shuffling. Sure not all regions get the same retirement or benefits. I am only able to address my region. I know others are different. Sure would have been nice to have us all under one plan. I guess I can be hopeful the rank and file will look down the road and envision what may come their way when they retire and make their voice heard at the IBT! Separating the retiree's health care from the Rank and File is a division tactic. Once this door is opened where contractually the retirees’ are separated from the working rank and file, no telling what the future will bring to retirement down the road. If you have spent time with UPS as a Teamster and plan that someday you will retire? Sure hope you get involved and spread the word and vote for how you see your future! If I was allowed to vote? That’s right, RETIRED FOLKS are dependent on those (currently employed Teamsters) who are allowed to vote and make the difference for all present and future TEAMSTERS. Hands down, whether it was 30 years ago or tomorrow, I would vote to protect those who have retired and FOR SURE protect my future retirement in the making by stopping the separation/division of all involved.
