Now this, I can relate to, but Teena Marie was pretty popular back in the late 70's early 80's and agin throughout the years up until her death. She was heard more (not you) on urban & R/B stations. Here's a song of hers that I like, followed by a duet with Rick James, who, btw, also died way too early.

I think that was Tina LOUISE, though Maryanne was still my choice, but not as of late.
Teena Marie's voice reminded me of some of the girls that we hung out with when I was younger.
