Re: Ron Carey, You've been VINDICATED! Posting these smears is a new low, even for you, Trollguy. You even admit that ". . . it appears to be more guilt by association. . ." and that it comes from TeamsterNet which is a hangout for those who favor Teamster crimes and criminals of the organized (and disorganized) variety. It's part of the campaign Hoffa and the Old Guard have been wageing for years to discredit Ron Carey. Carey tried to clean up the Teamsters, but unfortunately, he had to deal with various corrupt officers because they were, rightly or wrongly, legally entitled to hold office. Other times, he was unaware of their crimes, as their wrongdoing would not come to light until later. Still other times, he had to treat a suspected person as "innocent until proven guilty" because the suspect had not yet been formally charged, or because he had not yet been convicted. Hoffa and the Old Guard would throw mud and hope at least some would stick. They issued endless press- release smears and knew some lazy, or anti-Carey, reporters would take the bait and reprint it. This gives the smears a degree of unearned respectability. They then quote the published material themselves as if it is real news, when they themselves were the original source. Take the John Long prosecution you cite, for just one example. Carey was a witness for the prosecution, against John Long! As is standard proceedure, Carey received immunity. That's so Long couldn't try and turn the tables and blame Carey for Long's crimes, or try to "share" the blame with Carey to lighten Long's own guilt. That standard immunity deal did not in any way suggest Carey was involved in any crime. Indeed, it kept the focus on Long, where it belonged, and reduced Long's wiggle room. Carey was required to testify to "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth," and to answer all questions fully. Carey was performing a public service, doing his civic duty, yet dubbing him "Mr. Immunity" makes it seem that he was guilty of some crime and was given a "stay out of jail free card" in exchange for testifing against his "co-conspiritor." The smear spreaders know the uninformed public will make such a totally unjustified inference. As always, Tie, if you have any proof of any crime by Ron Carey, please, please post your evidence. For an eyewitness account of Ron Carey's trial, and proof that the "evidence" against him was bogus, (the same "evidence" the bamboozled IRB earlier relied on to ban him for life!) start reading here: http://www.browncafe.com/community/threads/97-flashback.118482/
