Rush Limpbaugh getting the cold shoulder from the NFL!

Für Meno :)
If this helps you TOS, we don't get Limbaugh here, but we do get US cable network news. I also have an mp3 player. They all come with FM radio now. No AM though.
Here AM is only used for live sports broadcasting, if you happen to be on the road at the time of a game.
Seems, America uses AM for political priesters.
Nah, we have better, more honest and open, ways to inform ourselves. Thankfully.

Wow, really? Are you really that delusional?

So satellite radio is taking over the AM bands, the same satellite radio format whose only two companies were both on the path to bankruptcy and were begging the government for permission to merge not that long ago. The same satellite radio which was in desperate need for a cash rich investor to buy it up after said merger because it too was about to go under? Sorry to burst your bubble, but Rush's audience is larger than all the cable news networks combined. More people listen to him than Katie Couric. In fact you will learn that Rush's ratings are breaking new records as recently as this past August. There is a reason he is considered the god father of talk radio. He is the reason it is such a huge radio format today. I'm sorry to be the one who tells you this, but satellite radio doesn't have anywhere near the listenership of AM radio. Most people who pay for satellite radio are truckers and people who drive long distances for a living. Very little of the rest of the population finds it worth purchasing.

Now before someone accuses me of listening to Rush, although I rarely disagree with him, I prefer Dave Ramsey who is on at the same time slot. In fact most of the time I am listening to talk radio is in the evenings when the local AM news talk station is playing a rerun of Neal Boortz. I'm jealous of you Atlanta people who get to hear his entire show live everyday. My radio station only plays half of it several hours after its original broadcast. :(
Smart man! Dave is great.

Just a few names that are a danger to society. That the nfl should be worried about. All thugs on my list.

:anxious:Shame on Goodell and the NFL. At least have a full hearing with evidence presented and then let the jury(the owners} vote before executing Rush.
It is obvious that his political views kept him from being part of the NFL. Is it not what minorities have been fighting against for years. Judge a person by his race, creed or political beliefs.
All sorts of people that have been CONVICTED of crimes are allowed to participate in the league. What was Rush convicted of ????
Look at the latest partial owner of the dolphins --FERGIE --very talented singer but extreme filthy lyrics in some of her songs ---and just recently claimed that all of our hard working CIA people are terroists ?????
Fergie is in --Rush is out ??? Disgraceful !!

Why is this so hard for you to understand? The NFL wants the public to watch football. That is their product that they sell. Rush Limbaugh sells an agenda everyday on his radio show that is one-sided and in 2009 Rush is just not funny anymore. People are not laughing at the shrinking middle class jokes. People are tired of his attack Obama routine. Why would the NFL want this negative distraction? They dont need Limbaughs money to sell a team. Also Fergie is just a POP singer and most people have no idea who she is. Also the NFL PLAYERS made this decision and RUSH LIMBAUGH will now have to pay for his big mouth. This is a business decision for the NFL. Not Politics. :wink2:

Only your view counts --sounds very liberal and fair ????

This is absurd.

Football players that are lucky enough to make it to the elite level and even try out for the NFL - they say they wouldn't play for Rush?

I am sure there are many players that would kill for a chance to even be considered for a practice squad on ANY team.

What about Jimmy Jones?
Is he not loud and annoying?

What if Rush had enough money to purchase a team all by himself - lets say from the family that owns Buffalo - and Rush would fight to keep the team in Buffalo...would the fans rather have the team leave than have Rush own it?

So freaking what?
Let a guy have a chance at grabbing American Dream.

Why would he even want to be a part of a Socialist sport?

Salary caps, draft preference give to the low performers, wealth equally distributed regardless of individual income?

I think all you socialist haters should boycott the NFL on general principles.

No, they are shareholders of the NFL product. That is why they have to buy into it. And shareholders get a share of the profits.

let me clue you into a little something....SATELLITE RADIO.

Satellite radio has all but eliminated the need for am radio waves.
who are these satellite talk radio shows that have a bigger audience than Rush?

Only those inclined to follow the right wing rhetoric will take the time to listen to Rush. It would be hard to sell the thought of anyone switching off satellite radio to listen to am waves...
So your saying he doesnt have a huge following?

The numbers for AM radio as a whole continue to disappear every month.

Being number 1 in am radio is like being number 1 in professional wrestling. Alot of fighting, slamming and outrageous words, but at the end of the day, its all FAKE!
again I should ask which talk radio shows on satellite have a larger audience

Sure, just as if you owned a Mcdonalds.
Well, not really :wink2:
The Economist breaks it down pretty well:
It is little wonder, then, that Art Modell, the former owner of a franchise that moved from Cleveland to Baltimore, once referred to NFL team owners as “32 fat-cat Republicans who vote socialist” on football.
Full story

This is from Sports Business Simulations:
Each team functions as a separate business but operates under shared revenue generated through broadcasting, merchandising, and licensing. Shared revenue creates a socialist environment where owners can be comfortable to not risk or be aggressive when recruiting and forming contracts and still make money.

kinda have to chuckle reading Cuban opinions about the NFL protecting its reputation of sorts by allowing someone who may bring negativity with the way they act
Yeah, that occurred to me as well :happy-very:. I guess all that money can't buy self awareness....

One might think Rush would say that the right wing has failed a major test by refusing to back him. Or maybe you might think he would take a different tack and accept personal responsibility for why a group of Billionaire Conservatives wouldn't want his presence affecting their bottom line.
But no. Rush instead had this to say about why his defeat occurred:
"This is about the future of the United States of America and what kind of country we're going to have.....This is the latest assault on people who believe in rugged individualism and liberty and freedom who threaten the whole notion of state control tyranny and central authority which is typified by the Obama administration and the Democrat Party."
It boggles the mind. For starters, blame it on Obama...lol Rush, your an idiot, a rich one at that. Secondly, someone who claims a belief in rugged individualism and rails against "victim politics" while he preaches personal responsibility, it was almost jarring to hear Rush whine about "tyranny" on the left when it was his compadres on the right who just said NO.
Let's be absolutely clear: there is nothing in the First Amendment that covers the right to own an NFL team. Owners have the right to protect their brand and Rush needs to deal with the fact that in 21st century America, outside of AM Hate Talk Radio, he is a liability and not an asset.
He may want to reconsider and make a bid as the NFL Drug CZAR....

OR, maybe Rush just went about this all wrong. After all, this is a man who once said:
"Holocaust? Ninety million Indians, only 4 million left? They all have casinos...what's to complain about?"
Maybe he should have tried to just buy the Redskins instead.
