Sales leads

Has anyone gone on to upsers.com today? There is a new take charge posting. It is now cutting the point system on all new leads and doing away with the credit cards and will now be giving gas cards etc instead.

This takes place for all rewards that are to be issued starting this month. No wonder UPS has not paid us any of our sales lead monies that we have coming.

They preach, beg us to turn in sales leads to gain the business and offer us one thing but plan on changing its plan midstream. My center alone has 61 new sales leads this year and no one is being paid, so now tomorrow morning I will file the grievance on this.

Good luck getting future sales leads in the near future! Now the sales reps will actually have to chase FedEx trucks!

honestly, I have not heard anything and this would be a major development. I do not like this change AT ALL. I guess I see a different screen when I log into UPSers.com.

I'll do some research and get back to this thread if I find something out.

The sales rep never followed up on the last sales lead I turned in 3 years ago. Management in my center said it was not "their job." The customer went to FedEx and I refuse to turn in sales leads in the future, regardless of the rewards. You sales reps can just get your own sales leads from now on, as far as I'm concerned.

Go to my workspace and click on corporate pcms, read take charge program changes. I have 5 leads this year that i have not seen one dime off of, and they are high producing accounts. I will get what I had coming to me, this I promise!

I hate to say this....but sales lead rewards are in the same category as production bonus and Christmas turkeys. They are all non-contractual benefits that are granted...or taken away...at the sole discretion of management and it is a mistake to develop a sense of entitlement towards them.

All that we are really entitled to....are the wages and benefits that are spelled out in the labor agreement.

I work hard not because I want to "make bonus" but because the contract and my own moral code obligates me to give my employer a fair days work for a fair days pay. I turn in sales leads not because I want points on an AMEX card, but because I want to help grow the business and provide jobs for my brother Teamsters.

What really sucks about this cutback in sales lead points is that it occured immediately after our CEO gave himself a $5 million raise. I could understand it if UPS were really in financial peril...but based upon Scott Davis's newfound wealth, that does not appear to be the case.

Sober, bonus and sales leads are addressed in the contract at least here. And if UPS implements a long standing policy and then alters from it a grievance can be filed on it as in everything that you mentioned, even the turkey.

red, is there a seperate contract for 705 teamsters? I have seen things you have mentioned in other posts that are not in this areas contract...50 hour vacation, etc, etc. Can you elaborate?

It looks like it will be run like credit card points. You get points and redeem them for gifts, gift cards, or gas cards.

the feedback I have gotten from some drivers is that the points make no sense and how they turn to $$'s is very confusing.

hopefully this will be more productive :whiteflag:

Wherever I see Trump, it smells like he's Putin.
I turned a lead that started producing to the point the shipper wanted to use ups freight as well. center manager told shipper he didn't have time to help him, don't you just freakin LOVE that! He still uses us for small taters but everyone except us for truck freight.

I was starting to wonder why points were not being added to my Amex. I had a sales lead close in July and had yet to see any points. This was a big one and I should have received the max ($1K). This change will turn off even the most ardent sales lead supporters.

Sober is right that we shouldn't be submitting leads just for the points but let's get real--that is exactly why we do it.

I actually received an ODS from my center manager in which he said that he expects me to submit 1-2 sales leads per day. I had to remind that I had submitted 8 since July 1st but I guess that wasn't good enough. Give me a break.

Weird, in Calgary, we just had a PCM today where 1 driver just got his AMEX card and another got his AMEX card with those one in a million $1000 first day accounts. Apparently his sales lead generates 200 something pieces a day and needs a five ton. Lucky guy.

Oh, there was also a picture op with him holding a giant check, lol. Nothing like UPS flaunting itself as a 'good guy'. I'm sure by next week he'll be suspended for something.

Cold locals 705 and 710 are under separate contract and negotiate separate from the national.

That what I want, to pick out UPS stuff from a catalogue so I can look at UPS even when I am at home.

The current system was perfect, you received your money and could go to the bar, out to dinner, i even bought my son a $100 baseball bat from it.

Now I will have to except plush ups trucks. Never ever again will you see a lead from me!

Any lead that was sold after June falls under the new guidelines. I hate to say it sounds like you will be catalogue shopping. Maybe you could join me in filing a grievance on this?

What's a grievance?

Actually, Sober has it right. UPS does have the right to change and/or discontinue incentive programs. It would have been nice had they told us or waited until the first of the year before making this program change. My Colorado needs to have some work done (about $500) and I was planning on having UPS pay for the work by using my Amex.

The funny thing was I mentioned this to one of our BD people this morning and they had no clue what I was talking about.

It is hard enough to get people to participate now so I can only imagine what effect this change will have.

This is a grievable situation, UPS announced on upsers.com on 8/12/09 that it was changing their program. It should take effect from that point on not implemented covering the last 6 weeks. We are entitled to what we were promised during that time frame!

Makes sense.

I will wait for the mailing so I can have all of the information in front of me before I make my decision.

In a moral and ethical sense, you are correct.

In a contractual sense, maybe not.

One other thing that we were told this AM during the PCM was the points are awarded differently if the customer is commercial or residential. Higher for commercial. Personally, I don't like the changes. I don't want to have to shop out of a catalogue for stuff that I won't really need. I actually use most of my sales lead card money to purchase lunches and I doubt they sell those there!
