How is seniority determined when employees have the same seniority date?
Whoever punched in first
Really? How do u find that out? ????
Happened years ago
Does UPS really keep records that long ago? My building normally goes by alphabetical order or by company seniority.
We had two drivers who were hired on the same date. They flipped a coin to see who got seniority over the other one. The one who lost cried about that for 30 years. At the time they didn't realize what a big deal it was but when you take into consideration everything at UPS is ran by seniority it turned out to be a real big argument starter between those two.
Would arm wrestling have been a better way to settle the issue? Could not have been a worse solution.
It goes by last name here
At the time I'm sure the center manager thought he had come up with a brilliant solution. P.S. If they would have had an arm wrestling contest the same guy would have won.
Where's "here"? Being that the occurence is so rare how are you certain of that? Almost everywhere it goes by time of application.
I am hearing it goes by last name....I'll let u know what union steward says
Whoever finishes their application first.
Last name in Central

I had the same date as another, and was put behind them, had that switched because of last name was before theirs. They no longer work for UPS.
When the original Art 22.3 jobs were bid there were a lot of people with the same FT starting date.
But doesn't that revert back to PT seniority then?
Where did you read that in the contract? Eventually that was how some of the cases were handled.
I didn't, but that would only make sense to do it that way, though.
I got hired the same day as another guy. He punched in ahead of me.and that's how they determined the seniority.
Separate names with a comma.
