Alright so my hire in date was about a week and a half after the other employee that is in front of me, but i finished my 30 working days before the other employee did because they were out with sickness and then a death in the family. Since i finished my 30 days before the other employee shouldn't i be in front of them on the list?

At least in my area before you reach seniority the company can get rid of you that much easier, but once you get it the seniority date goes back to the first day you worked. For me I reached seniority on April 4th, but the date used for bidding and other such things is Feb 21st, the first day I worked. As dillweed said check with your union rep to make sure.
