It's wet and cold so let's fan some flames to warm things up.

More Republican Hypocrisy

Posted by Laurence Vance on December 30, 2009 02:39 PM
President Obama recently signed into law H.R. 3288, the “Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2010.” This is also known as the omnibus appropriations bill. When this House bill was voted on as amended in the Senate on September 17, seventeen Republicans voted for it, including the “conservatives” Sam Brownback, Thad Cochran, Pat Roberts, Bob Bennett, and Richard Shelby. Why does anyone continue to listen to Republicans talk about less government and less spending? The Republicans have absolutely zero credibility. The “Party of Fiscal Responsibility” is responsible, thanks to Reagan, Bush Sr., and Bush Jr., for more of the national debt than those socialistic, big-spending Democrats.

I don't necessarily disagree with the points the avenger makes though his condescending style voice gives me a headache.

I think for us to accomplish what he is attacking we would have to pull back completely from the world stage and adopt a isolationist / non-interventist type foriegn policy.

Once done I don't believe we eliminate the terrorist threat. I believe the terrorist attack us because of our power and presecence in the world and not for any alleged injustices. The iraq war may be a recruiting tool to exploit for terrorist leadership but it is not the driving force for that activity. If it was then can we now expect that a thriving democratic Iraq as it is now evolving would eliminate the terrorist threat or will the terrorist leadership find some other reason real or imagined to inflame their zealots.

True power comes from fighting a common enemy. The terrorist leadership will not gain that power by telling their brainwashed zealots that they should learn to love the west.

The southern avenger is excellent at lobbing grenades but unfortunately falls far short on coming up with real solutions.

the greatest crime may be that avatar did not win best picture here. The hurt locker was a good 3 star war movie nothing else while avatar took movie making to a whole new plateau.

As far as the condemnation of the iraqi war which was the avengers real transparent intent here the time to question our committment to a war against Iraq was during bush 1. Once we make that committment we are doomed to see it to its fruitition our of respect for those who lost their lives fighting these wars.

When Avatar passed the billion $$$ mark, Cameron already got the big prize! He doesn't need a statue.

I saw both films in the theater and while I would not have been surprised to see Avatar get the nod, I think Hurt Locker certainly deserved it. It wasn't as groundbreaking, but it was a better movie in a lot of ways.
