your total amount of stock increases with each dividend reinvestment; this is mathematical compounding.
i'd rather purchase more shares with my dividend at todays prices, so id like the stock to stay where it is for as long as possible since i don't want to touch the account for 30 or so years.
you clearly do not understand how the market works.
P.S. my DESPP deductions are PRE tax, just like my 401(k) deductions.
Oh, I guess I "clearly do not understand how the market works". Yeah, you're right.
I thought stock should be making more and more each day, month, year, decade, etc. But I was clearly WRONG!!!! I guess I should want my stock to stay level for its entire life so I don't make any money!!!!
Let's see...this year, the dividend has been 42 cents a share per quarter. MAN, I can really buy a lot more shares with this dividend! I guess if you want to call this compounding, then knock yourself out! I do not! 42 CENTS A SHARE? "Purchase more shares with my dividend"? How're you gonna do this on 42 cents? How many shares x .42 do you need to buy ONE share?
Yeah, I guess I don't understand how the market works. I wanna have the "stock stay where it is for as long as possible", so I don't make any money. Hmmm...I think this is how Warren Buffett thinks too. I must be the dumbest man alive!
