Stop Completing Pickups

There is a difference. There can be legitimate reasons why you didn't stop complete at that location - it could be as simple as forgetting to hit stop complete until after you left. Very different from deliberate dishonesty which is what falsifying records would be.
I don't know if you saw the earlier post but this conversation was over using cell phone to call customers and if they have nothing stop completing away from the address.....is that deliberate in your opinion........if you don't be aware it's going to to in your area soon......I agree on what your saying about forgetting a day or 2.......but planning it because you don't want to go is a problem.......plus Lp says you have to make a valid attempt on every stop in diad

You absolutely need to make a valid attempt but my point was that data from the DIAD is not necessarily an indicator of dishonesty. I have seem many times the GPS had screwy glitches and was way off the real location. Which is one of the major reasons it can't be used for discipline by itself.

The problem is that most of the time the driver actually does it because they think it is ok.......so when Lp asks the question did you make a valid attempt on that stop or did you stop complete it away from the stop........the driver is caught in a bad position not knowing what evidence ups has......so the driver has a choice lie and say he was at the stop or tell the truth and hope for a softer sentence......which would you do just out of curiosity

I also agree that that gps info isn't always correct but most the the time drivers are cutting corners trying to get done early

Sadly the way the system works is people are frequently penalized worse when they are honest and admit they screwed up than if they continued to deny everything. I never liked having that kind of work environment.

Its horrible and it bothers me personally also.....that why I try and educate drivers not to put themselves in the situation.....but unfortunately drivers sometimes dont understand what kind of employer they are dealing with....and they dont understand the ups management are not our friends

Hello, I'm sorry for bumping the old topic, as a smart-pickup service end-user, I wanted to know what drivers think about SmartPickup service so I should not use this service and leave you guys alone and cancel the subscription as I feel like I'm bugging you guys now when I needed a smart pickup service. I expected UPS do better service as labels are expensive than other options, so Smart Pickups,
a small business owner I don't ship many packages I call rarely like twice or 3 maximum a month. And I just moved into this apartment in the urban Los Angeles area. The driver drops all the boxes at the front, and the security guys hand over to us on the first floor. I think I'm the only one who uses smart pickups as I see his behavior isn't normal and I never had an issue at the previous address. With that old grandpa driver who I always gave respect, he works so hard I often worried about him as I don't think he has a day off. Anyways so I provided him the gate key when no one probably didn't care for years even he screams outsides. (i was here for a year)
Anyways that's why I decided to continue the service. But this guy never picks up.
First time where I met him was at the front, we didn't know each other as I just moved in, and I nicely asked him to pick up my packages there(it was Amazon Returns), he said yes, but he didn't. So, well I know humans, forget somethings, me too, so after three days I realized the shipments still there! So he ignored two days already WTF. I ended up dropping the package at UPS store. And after the other day, I also had other pickups for my business, I called the UPS, and requested it over the phone because website request this guy never picks up. I would love to leave my package downstairs as long as he picks up!! But he never did. So I requested the specialist to TELL HIM TO COME TO MY DOOR. NO EXCEPTION. I PAID FOR SERVICE. Then magic happens. Even though I didn't want to see him at my door, i tried to train him this game, but the other young guy picked it up.
After that, I again requested smart pickup once a month because I don't want to waste monthly bills. but he never showed up on my two requests. Alright, that's fine; I dropped them at UPS store.
Today, I was busy, and I wish he stop by, but yeah I realized this thing never works. I decided to wait for him for the whole 12 hours and see if this man would ditch me again. friend Yeah, he did. So what do you want? Do UPS drivers get minimum wage in LA?

So far it was my 8th(!!!!) complains over the phone in 3 monthly bills period and only one showed up that was another guy.
Today i wanted to fight for this issue, so rep to the specialist her solution, no calls, no pickups, no doorbells, no knocks. And this guy marked my request as package picked up. wow
Okay, the 2nd specialist she was speechless to me, and she reported to the supervisor, and then supervisor wants me to wait about 5-10 minutes cause she will talk to LA facility manager named Darren? He called me later he will find someone picks it up today so ok I will be here for next couple of hours. Now it's 824 PM. I guess he will never show up.
Smart pickup, you guys, should come and pick up, but the system doesn't work well because of 1 driver. I am kind to enough put packages downstairs for him if that was his excuse, but no he always didn't get those. Now security guards made UPS PICK UP ->->-> sign. In handwriting with color pens. This one is not by me. It's by neighbors; security guys don't even know my story.
We do have three elevators all in one place that is not even busy, a couple of seconds button wait. He does not move his a.
Right next to the front. Just a few steps away. Well okay, you must be worked here for a decade or somthing with some own developed professional rule to follow.
Okay so maybe UPS pay you guys minimum or $13-$14 an hour with no benefit then I would do the same and don't give a pho to the supervisor
Or Smart Pickup idea was some non-sense officer on board who never had delivery experience and make you all staffs tired of this sit even supervisors.
That grandpa driver should take his spot and make money more comfortable than him. This is my first time issue with UPS in entire life.

It's too bad you speak so poorly otherwise, I might have been able to understand your concern and help you. Since I, as well as all the other UPS employees, make minimum wage, we could care less about your problem. Your first problem was bumping a 3 year old thread then proceeding to insult the very people you are asking advice from.

Sorry I can't help you but I can offer you some advice to help your situation. Make a copy of your post and give it to the UPS driver so he knows how you feel and what needs to be done.

Second, friend* off and die.

Cool, I just asked security guy if he had some issue and he answered yes. I didn't ask for more. so basically UPS can't control drivers and how they manage employ is terrible. anyways I didn't open this thread up for help, I never asked help and that's how you read customers and the world. smoke more and it's time to go to sleep.

Well, anyways dear all drivers I never thought you guys are having a hard time. All i heard during many years is that UPS driver is a great job with benefits and it is hard to be the driver because you have to go through some experiences and all that.
I'm 100% positive that low wage makes the trouble everywhere. My thread was not intended to insult you guys. Anyways. Hope you guys enjoy with family.
I apologize and good bye now.

Do you actually have a smart pick up account? Or are you ordering on demand service? You should still have your packages picked up regardless. I know I have had issues with on demand service at apartments and trailer parks where there is no apartment number or space number. Sounds like the center that services your area is poorly managed. I would recommend finding the center and talk to a supervisor at the customer counter to explain your situation. That would be your best bet to get the situation resolved. The 1800 number can be difficult to deal with.

Probably doest give the apt number when he calls the on demand in so the driver overrides the pick up and the oms office cant get ahold of him to get an apt #

Look how he talks. Probably some broken English foreigner that no one can understand but he blames everyone else for all the problems he /she faces on a daily basis.

Never had a problem with management about this. What do you guys think?

I would get it in writing from a supervisor or manager and just keep that in a safe spot just in case. Here's the thing - I have p/u that I do that as well and have never had a problem. But...

1. UPS does not provide or pay for my phone bill
2. It is not a method to personally contact any customer
3. I have seen management use this as "Stealing time" or falsifying records or some other BS he said / she said crap if they are after you

Just my 2 cents. But I have the OK in writing to CMA

Remember that falsify delivery or pickup records is dishonesty and a cardinal sin. If you stop/pickup completed and the GDP has you somewhere else they can fire you for dishonesty. UPS management has gotten hot for this and in fact make divers sign "delievery integrity" certification which clearly defines failure as dishonesty.

Drive to your stop or pickup location before you close them out. If you call and they wave you off them don't take credit for them. Leave them undone when you punch out. I rather get a warning letter for a missed pu then fired for dishonesty.

I have this issue a lot with"soft" holiday closes like Good Fridays or Veterans Day". Sometimes they tell their open but then when I get there they are closed. I just don't complete the pickup and punch out with them undone...even if they told me they would be open.

Never heard of someone getting fired for that. Management is pretty down to earth in my center.
