You must be very proud that the republicans turned down the Buffet rule yesterday (30% min tax on people earning over $1 Mill. per year).
Even though 72% of Americans ,according to polls, would like to see it put in place.
That's ok, they can cut the $5.9 Billion, it would have generated, from SS or medicare.
It's time to get off those socialist programs , anyways, right ?

I wouldn't have a problem with the buffet rule if 50% of all Americans didnt pay zero. Everyone should pay a minimum!!!

I don't know much about your taxes, I agree.
But, here the first $13.500 someone earns as a single is non taxable.
So, that means that flyer boy that comes to my door once a week to earn some pocket money, doesn't need to pay taxes.
Either does my co-worker that only works 4 hrs a night for 5 nights, to make ends meet, because she falls under that threshold, as well she has a 4 yr old child to support.
I supose it's fine with me, if Americans want to tax the working poor.

This argument is getting old. Everyone pays taxes. It's just that some get all of what they paid in (and then some) back. My son is in that group. He is a FT college student who also works at Papa Johns. He got back $110 more than he paid in, mostly due to his education write-offs.

The Buffett rule applies to those earning $2M/year or more and would be graduated in for those earning "only" $1-1.99M This was merely an election year ploy--the issue will be resolved as soon as Obama is re-elected.

They are smart enough to know it wouldn't help pay down the deficit and the way they plan to use it is to show how WEAK the pres's ideas are !!

The fact that anyone believes this should happen is very troubling forget dem rep or whatever look at the record what has he done he will bankrupt us. If u think these 4 years were bad wait until he isn't worried about getting reelected. It's not just him I would say 80% plus of the house and senate needs to be thrown out. They need a 2 term limit also. This is what happens when everyone is too worried about getting reelected. There should be no such thing as a lifetime politician.

How is a business man with business experience and governor experience who raised a large family....out of touch?
You already let a community organizer run this country......he only knows campaigning. He's defintely good at that.
I would much rather have a man who knows business and how it works. I want someone who took a loser...the olympics.... and turned it into a winner for Utah.
He and Ann are done raising kids and can concentrate on the job at hand.
Obama doesn't understand taxes, gas prices, how to run a company.....can't even spot a winner (because it takes one to know one!)

I don't care for Romney all that much but I'm willing to give him a shot i know what the current administration brings to the table and I don't like it.
Any idiot could have turned the olympics into a winner, all they had to do was what ROMNEY did, get a bailout from the goverment to make the olympics work.

Good point but all Olympic "Celebrations" are nothing more than a pick pocket operation on the taxpayer. It's pure wealth re-distribution into the hands of local and regional business and gov't functions and their functionaries. Living in a city that had an Olympic "Celebration", the message is always how much the city and region benefits and in some respects that's true but it's by no means from purely market actions. And the allocation of resources afterwards may or may not always work in the "Utopianism" as once proclaimed. Atlanta built the Georgia Dome leading into the Olympics as a part of the greater World Congress Center complex and here we are 20 years later and the talk is the Dome is outdated, old, etc. and that the Falcons need for the taxpayers to foot the bill for a new stadium. So the taxpayers are expected to foot a billion dollar pricetag for what equates to 8 Sundays per year not counting pre-season and maybe a post season game and of course the Monster Truck/Motorcross show?
Tell me again "conservatives" about market forces and best allocation of resources. Resources that are extracted at the point of a gun for the benefit of someone else. And how is this not socialism?

Yeah, well, you couldn't !! You would've offended every Mormon in the state of Utah. The olympics were a huge success for the state. I still have lots of friends there and they all love what Romney did there.
I don't care if the guy is a howdy doody puppet....if he can run a business, make a budget, live by the budget, cut spending, pay down the deficit, etc.......he's got my vote!
