The Shuttle Discovery Processing and Launch

    I've seen a few launches in person. It's quite an experience. Bright flame in the sky and a smoke trail forever.

    The solid rocket boosters are reusable. They are recovered from the ocean. The external fuel tank is burnt up on reentry. It's orange because they decided it will weigh less if they dont paint it.

    Oh the advantage of living in Central Florida!

    I have seen almost every launch done from the Cape. The shuttles are awesome but man the old Apollo V could out rumble them all!

    Neat. I just last month drove the 2 hour trip with my son to the Kennedy Space Center, a very interesting place!
