FedEx seeks cost cuts as growth slows - ft.com -

"We expect to mitigate these challenges by reducing costs and improving efficiencies, and are continuing to evaluate additional actions to substantially improve FedEx Express margins," Mr Graf said.
FedEx said its forecast does not include the impact of cost-cutting plans under review that the company expects to announce in a few months' time.

Jefferies & Company analyst Peter Nesvold told investors in a note that higher costs are the main reason for FedEx's lower-than-expected forecast, according to a report in The New York Times. Earnings in the long run could be boosted by a reorganization in the FedEx Express business unit, including layoffs, according to Nesvold.

Analysts have pointed to a reorganization for FedEx Express for a while now. The company, in its statement announcing the fourth-quarter and year-end performance, said it would announce in the fall "significant cost reduction programs currently under review.":panicsmiley:

Our managers are looking like the walking dead the last few days.
Such a miserable bunch of people in our station waiting to watch their futures collapase......
I don't think they'll be letting fortune 500 do any surveys at Express again in my generation.

They're the ones most likely to be offered a buyout. Maybe some pocket change on their way out the door. I don't think the hourlies will be so lucky.

I just want to know where they come up with all these clowns who express their undying love and devotion to Fred and Co.
They' re certainly not talking to anyone I know.

Just goes to show, ya can't pay one whit of attention to any of these worthless publications.

I would just love to see somebody - anybody get in to a national or global publication and pull the curtain back on all this phoney-baloney B.S. the Great Purple Wizards have been perpetrating on the public. I think I want to punch out the next person who says "oh you work for FedEx?, I understand they're a wonderful company" Yes, they're a wonderful company - if you're a Panda or a Japanese citizen who's Tsunami-tossed volleyball washed up on the U.S. West Coast. If you're anything or anyone who can be exploited by this dirtbag outfit for their own PR gain.

It should be renamed Stepford Express

You get it. If I show up for work in a panda suit next Monday will I be treated with respect?

Probally even feed you better than the Costco Hot dogs and Hamburgers we get a couple times a year!!!

With the Big Sellout, Fred won't even have to budget for the crap food any longer. That will get him closer to his beloved 10% and one step lower in Hell. Pretty soon, he'll have a spot reserved stoking the furnace next to Stalin.

A Capitalist next to a Socialist ... maybe Satan will put one on each side of him.
That might be better.
That combination might be like matter and anti-matter interacting.
