Having 10 paid staff members (not officers/agents) for a medium-sized local is a good start. Organizers working out of a union hall are a great thing.. when the local can afford it. There's also a steward that was paid $10,000 last year; no idea how that works unless he's getting pulled off for lost-time for an entire fiscal quarter.. but I don't know why you would do that with two project organizers already on staff full-time.

Three members of the e-board are listed as business agents. There are nine additional BA's on the payroll. That's a total of 12 business agents on staff. Comparatively, Local 25 in Boston with roughly 1,000 more members has six total BA's on payroll.

Union officials/staff members (secretaries, organizers, etc.) out of UPS have had recall rights since the mid-1990's or so, meaning they can return to their previous jobs with the company without loss of seniority rights. I'm not as familiar with recall rights with other Teamster companies, but I'm sure they exist. Twelve business agents (with 3 members of the e-board listed as such but not the ST..) on staff for a roughly 8,500 member local is insane.

Local 120, for example, has 15 business agents on staff (they are still in trusteeship after their e-board was nailed by the IRB) but they also have over 11,300 members and five separate offices spread out across four different states (Minnesota, Iowa, N Dakota, S Dakota).

You should look at the finances of all the Southwest locals. They are financially the worse in the country and not one of those locals is ran by TDU. As a matter of fact every single local in the Southwest is strongly Hoffa with the exception of one, which endorsed Fred Gegare at the 2011 Convention.

Patrick K's old Chicago buddy Patrick Flynn could easily afford to write a personal check for $221,664 to get local 952 back up to being just flat broke. Flynn grabbed more than half a million dollars in 2013 from the dues of local 710 members.
