Last week while smoking the route I received a message saying to call the center manager. I replied yes, made a few more stops and called. I was expecting the center manager to say that I was doing a wonderful job, but to my amazement he said there was a customer concern called in about me.

Apparently I had given someone the middle finger and shouted some choice words, as I was driving. Now mind you, I'll be the first one to call and say that there was some sort of incident, whether small or big. I went to the CYA school of driving, so that's what i do first and foremost, no matter if I'm in a hurry of not.

Well, this customer called and said they wanted to make this a corporate concern because I apparently almost caused a death, or several deaths. After giving my center manager a chance to state the problem, I told him that this incident never occurred. I told him that I hadn't gotten into any incidents at all and didn't know what he was talking about. He chimed back that it sounded like something I would do. I was flabbergasted by his statement, telling him I was being falsely accused. He said, but they have your car number and license plate, to which i replied, "SO", this never happened.

Long story, short, I'm going to receive a warning letter for this incident. I promise to God that this never happened and the accusation is false. The best I can come up with is that someone didn't like my driving and concocted this story. Shame on this person!

My question to the forum? What should I do/would you do?

Cant really do anything until you get the warning letter. Then file a letter of protest on the warning letter and let it go.

BTW, I would request a copy of the complaint. Then steer away from the person that called it in.

IT stinks, but such is the life of the UPS man......

Find out who it was, get a restraining order and file a deformation of character suit. Hey, this person lied and tried to cause you harm in your personal and public life.

I forgot to mention, I've had 7 late NDA pkgs within weeks of each other, including 5 in one day, that I have not received a warning letter for. I was trying to run ground and air so I could smoke the route, not that it matters, but the fact that they overlooked this which I admitted to, yet are running with this complaint, makes one wonder.

That is a bit extreme, sorry that happened to ya Steve. It is sad that someone went that far off the deep end to do an act like that for some sick satisfaction

You are kidding right. Why would you try to run air nd ground if you didnt positively without any doubt know you could do it. That is proof on paper. The other is toilet paper.

It is always amazing to me how quickly UPS will believe the word of a stranger with a phone over the word of a UPS employee. It would be nice for them to have our back once in a while.

This is why I record my whole day with multiple recording devices. UPS and customers can burn you but if you had your cameras and voice recorders then your hole day would be documented.
Whether you a runner or not; it is still a good idea to cover your a**

I'm not a driver, but is it possible telematics could vindicate you?

If they say you did this or that while driving, perhaps there is some report that might prove your innocence?

Although, it does occur to me that if this was the case, you or someone else would already have thought of it.

We had a driver accused of flipping off a customer and blasting down his street at 70mph. He called in a corporate concern and our center manager (the good one who was promoted), ran the reports (sparks, GPS) and found he wasn't within 3 miles of that area all week. Police arrested said customer the following week, (meth use and killing neighborhood pets) but the division manager instantly assumed the driver was guilty.

How are you and the ex getting along? Would she pull a stunt like this? Just asking as I don't know her. Stand your ground. Demand to see the reports in your rebuttal grievance- you must file one within ten calendar days of the warning letter. Do not put anything in your rebuttal about the late air. Don't give them ammo. Just state you would like to be able to face your accuser, as you did not do this. Could it be a cover driver and Corporate got the days mixed up? I have been mistaken for the fox in the fox hunt, so to say, so I feel your pain. When you get this cleared up, NEVER FORGET IT. Your center manager sounds like the majority of management I have met. Jerk.

Not kidding, though I hear ya. Normally I run by EDD, period, but when it comes to trying to get my time with my girls, the gloves come off.

Exactly what I thought! I couldn't think of anything.

Ahem...

I think there is something you are not telling us and we are not getting the whole story or you are a troll. :surprised:

It is a good thing for support to work, but, too many women are very spiteful. Being one, I can say that. It's not a good thing to be. Causes wrinkles, stress headaches, and ends up making you a very ugly person. Inside and out. Seen it too many times. It's not a female trait, only, though. FYI.:wink2:
Hope it isn't her or a "friend" of hers. Lord knows, you are too nice a guy to have this happen to you. Good luck.

This is what you must do. Steve, make sure you file that letter of protest, do not blow it off.
And then, forget about it...
