A lot of people have fantasies of being a hard ass on their last day. But lets face it, when they give you your donuts and coffee, bring you up before your co-workers, and the finality of it hits you, most people's emotions turn to a decidely softer place.

At least that has been my observation.

I recall one guy who we would have bet our paychecks was going to say SOMETHING about what he thought of UPS. He was given a small gift and there was a cake, coffee, and so on. When he started to talk it wasn't that he was choked up or anything like that. It was that you could see that he wouldn't have to bitch and complain about this damn company anymore and you could see how happy he was. The look on his face was what all of us are trying to reach. The pension check (if it's still there) will be nice also.
