TDU are actual Teamsters who are for reforming our union at both the Intl level and local level. "Nerds"?? You call them nerds because they are not big and fat and smoking cigars and wear pinky rings and make huge salaries. Nerds because they want their leadership to respond to the rank and file needs and demands?? Nerds because they want democracy in the union and openess in its negotiations with management?? Nerds because they dont like being told to stay quiet and sit down and be a good little follower?? Because they stand up to the old guard?? Please!!

On being started by socialists, let me just say if it werent for those socialists in this country, there would be not union movment at all and we would all be wage slaves to corporate america!!
They ask for dues from members just like the union does. Difference is TDU doesnt overpay its leaders like some unions do. They run on a shoe string budget.

What have they done for us?? Lets see . Could it be that they pushed for elections for Intl officers in the 1970s and 80s?? And now we elect our leaders (as bad as some are). They helped get Ron Carey elected in 1991 and continue to help the rank and file get educated and organized to take on corrput union officials and mobilize for contract campaigns.

Some people on here just dont like competition. They think they know all the answers. They say TDu operates in a bunker but where has hoffa been hiding lately?? Working on his resume'??

Besides the association with corrupt local officials, being in UPS' pocket, the bloated salaries for union officials, the concessions of the past 2 contracts, the lack of organizing anything significant (Overnite was given to us via a back room deal with UPS), the lack of strong leadership that defends the contract that we live under, being out of touch with the rank and file, etc. Other than that...i cant think of anything!!

i dont like hoffa,and i dont support tdu.they may have helped carey in 91 but even he knew to cut ties [if he even had them]with the leaches.as far as "pushing for int'l officers "and educating,mobilizing and taking on corrupt officials,,,,well we just disagree.btw we agree on hoffas resume'.ups completed it for him.

Hemmy, I did exactly that. I disagreed with them because they wanted some non TDU Teamsters to leave. And I pointed out their hypocrisy and left. It is wrong from either side to not allow debate and discussion.
