Transferring to Atlanta in July

You might want to check into the Roswell hub, 1300 Old Ellis Rd, Roswell. It's a totally different animal up here.

As in a good way or bad? I'm assuming it's a much smaller hub, might be harder to transfer. I've been with UPS 12yrs and worked in small and big hubs, they both have their +/-.

It's a lot smaller than Atlanta, but ALOT nicer area to deliver in and live. Word has it they just bought a huge chunk of land off 575, some sort of super hub going there.

There are 3 main hubs in Atlanta. Besides Atlanta and Roswell, we also have a hub just to the north of Atlanta off of Pleasantdale Rd. in Doraville. It's probably the same size as Fulton Industrial that 728ups gave you the address to. The neighborhood is nicer too. The P-dale hub delivers to the north side of Atlanta up to Dacula and west stopping at Marietta and east to Stone Mountain and Decatur. The Atlanta hub delivers to downtown, Buckhead and the southern suburbs and east-west along the I-20 corridor. Roswell delivers to some of the fancier suburbs but also to some of the more rural areas in Cherokee County. I like P-dale the best. A good mix of areas to live in and accessible to many ranges of housing options and things to do. It's close to Atlanta without actually being there. I grew up in Doraville so I'm decidedly biased. :) Any other questions, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer them.

Pdale (Pleasantdale) is the main hub in the Atlanta area.
Loads built for Georgia/Alabama from all over the country are labeled for PLEGA but many are processed in Atlanta (ATLGA).
Pdale is setup to handle flow through and overflow volume better than ATLGA.
There is also a small hub in south Atlanta - Forest Park. It processes and builds North Georgia volume mostly.

If you are looking to go driving in the future, people may give you projections for seniority to go driving in each building.

If you are transferring on school basis, the school you are going to may help with suggestions.

Interesting ... I did an Optimum Building Location analysis back in the early 80's that led to the purchase of a large parcel of land in Kennesaw which we consequently sold to FedEx. The demographics of that area indicated we could not staff the facility. Now there is a major 4 year University across the street.
I bet we wish we still had that land.
Now we'll probably buy another smaller parcel of land and it will be a screwed up design like the Pdale hub. Pdale was built on 38 acres with a 75 acre footprint building and trailer staging design. We have probably spent as much money trying to correct that building than we spent on it initially.

That sounds like when they built our new center around 1990. Company bought two parcels in a new industrial park planning to someday expand. Then, they put the building on the wrong parcel. The end they designed to expand from is opposite the still empty land.
