In my state Marijuana is legalized for medicinal purposes the FedEx SOP clearly says under the No circumstances are we to transport anything illegal under the Federal Control Substance act ban including marijuana. Now our SM is telling us to ignore it and just deliver it under SameDay ?! I'm confuse does the rule only apply to certain OpCos ?! or a we dealing with a complete buffoon.

Oh I'm sure the DEA would just love hearing this...

What is it? A brown box. Duh
Marijuana is still illegal under federal law, so I would say it would be a big fat NO to transporting under any circumstance

You might want to remind your sm about the current indictment they are facing from DEA.

Why would you know what's in the box anyways?

I remember delivering mysterious boxes way out in the sticks to a hippie colony that were sent from California, Florida or Arizona and the old hippie who met me got the biggest grin on his face and said "Wow-far out--we've been waiting for this stuff". I assumed it was weed or something along that line. After a few years of delivering you can pretty much guess what is in all the boxes. I could spot porn a mile away :-)

Take it to QA and tell the clerk you heard broken glass inside. o_O

They'll maybe just tape the seams and tell you to deliver it anyway.

I never heard about not transporting weed... I have at least a couple hits along with me everyday...although I never bring any back to the station.. ;)

Cant transport from 1 state to another is how I always saw the law to be. That's why they have shops or medical facilities to obtain it from. Your supe is an idiot for thinking its legal to ship GANJA from 1 state to another lol.

Frigid is right ... the DEA will love this.
I personally would not deliver anything crossing state lines that I knew was a Level 1 Controlled Substance.
That's serious trouble there.

I don't think they believe it is legal but that it is easier to adopt a "don't ask, don't tell" approach. Busting an illegal shipment results in a lot of paperwork both with internal and external legal entities.

That being said, any employee ordered to break the law has their manager dead to rights on business conduct/ethics violation. I guess the million dollar question is: are you going to do something about it? :p

I wouldn't even put the restriction on one state to another. The DEA could wake up tomorrow and slam every dispensary in Colorado if they wanted to. A lot of the weed businesses are having trouble getting financing because banks are afraid it will open them up to prosecution. CNBC had a very interesting special on it a few months ago.

Yes it is a Marijuana dispensary. Apparently they only deliver orders to establish patients in the area all deliveries are local. I'm not the only courier who's come across them already several of us have pick up and deliver for them.
My only real issue is the places we deliver to or the "patients" are kind of sketchy characters.
In answer to the million dollar question I'm not FedEx security So it's not my problem I see a bad area or location I'm relaying it to the nearest FedEx office.
I was more like curious if anybody else is also delivering MJ.

Don't care what's in the boxes as long as it won't hurt me. Crossing state lines is another story but with in the state you have no worries. Been delivering in a medical state for years.

How are you sure it's not crossing state lines in a hub and spoke system? I would be hands off-refuse to van-illegal shipment. Let management deliver it and see if they are willing to accept the consequences!

Doesn't matter, I used to deliver Booze out of state(my route covered an area out of state lines) My state didn't allow booze, but the other did and it was perfectly legal.

Now as for MJ and other "contraband" I don't know what is in the box and I don't care to know... knowing can only cause trouble..

Doesn't matter if it doesn't cross state lines. It's still illegal for any carrier to ship it, locally or not.
