a good feeling out of helping the less fortunate? No job benifit. Its not tracked on any reports that in any way affect pay and performance ratings.

with the computerized system It could be real easy for someone to miskey an employee number. The person doing the keying in should verify the employee name before submitting it but it looks like they did a sloppy job on it.

you can put a stop on it and get your money refunded if that is where your heart is.

I always find it funny that the advice here is always to assume dishonesty but yet the same people making that assumption would hate it if management always assumed dishonesty about them.
Considering how I have seen management act and have watched a manager get escorted to the door carrying everything he owned for fudging numbers, yes, I assume the worst about management. I should have received a check for over $3,300 today for my vacations and days last year, but didn't. So, I get to double pay grieve. I was shoulder checked by my supervisor, yet a co-worker was fired for threatening one.
Yes, I assume the worst.

Have you ever not given as full time management?

No I have donated every year since my first year. I donate because I know my money will be matched by UPS. Not a bad deal the way I look at it, 2 for 1 for charity. When you donate else where, can you say they match it?? Just some food for thought.

I am aware and I have donated every year as well.
I don't know of any management who haven't given every year. Do you know of any?

I have been full time management for about 10 years. I have given to United way I think 6 of those years. The 4 years I did not give, nothing was ever said. I got my full MIP each of those years, I got my bonus. I was a specialist the year before I was promoted, and did not give that year. Yet was still promoted.

When I was 17 , a mentor gave me great advice.
"Never touch another man's lunchbox, or paycheck."
Ever since that day, I have never let anyone touch either, of mine, without consequence.

The company does not match united way contributions. They match the first 15%. If you put in $100, they add $15.

Go straight to an HR manager. Not part timer or a specialist. If that doesn't help call the corperate hotline, that will fix this problem. Telling your supervisor won't do much. All he will do is go to HR. I don't know how it is in other buildings but in my building the Nassau Hub management is forced to donate to the united way. They are also forced to try and get us union people to donate. No matter how many times we say no they keep coming back to try. Again there is nothing wrong with donating. I donate to several charities. I just don't trust UPS. They break a lot of laws and I don't feel comfortable giving them money for charity. And because I have a union I have that right. IF UPS management can't fix the problem I would start making calls to the union hall or local news station or politician. At some point what goes on between the brown walls needs to be exposed.

HR doesn't have any role in correcting the the issue. All the employee needs to do is tell the supervisor or manager to put in a payroll adjustment/inquiry to stop it and get the collected funds returned.

People often don't realize they're signing up for DRIVE when the local does something at their facility, but I doubt the local is forging any signatures on it since they don't see the money, it goes to a different pot used only for political stuff.

Now UW, sounds like someone put your signature down there, how you get it removed I dunno.

The union did not forge a signature because they don't get the money??? The company doesn't get the united way money either, but they did forge???

There is no signature required for United Way, anyway. The card is just a note that tells the coordinator what number to key in. Good luck getting your hands on the orginal card. Once the information is keyed in the card usually goes in the trash.

so you're saying you are every bit the slime ball as those guys who you list?

or perhaps it was an end justifys the means argument where you use some management examples to brand all of us as thieves. Did you know your union was controlled by the mafia?

i know of at least 5 to 6 a year out of about 30 management people in my workgroup that do not give on any given year. you guys have so many myths about united way that you cling to in order to try to make giving to the poor sound evil.

Reading posts is such good humor.
Yes, call the police. And tell them...there is a payroll error on your paycheck. I would love to read what they tell you.
Yes, of course it was forgery, dishonesty, stealing. What else could it possibly be? Besides a mistake, a key entry error, who knows.
Yes, call HR. Call them because they have NOTHING to do with your payroll deductions, your paycheck, or any aspect of the payroll process.
Yes, please, because we can't wait to read what happens.

No one here has a problem giving to the poor. The problem is(as usual) the pressure put on those that chose to put their money in a cause of their own choice by the management personnel of UPS. I choose not to give to United Way because I do not agree with the way they spend or have spent some of the money given to them.

Does that mean I hate the poor and am stingey. You have no idea what I choose to do, so don't judge.

All this drama. If I find a mistake on something I talk to someone and it is fixed. Everything doesn't have to be Union V UPS.

I felt like I was pressured into doing United Way over the summer. My supervisor wouldn't let it go when I said no. I kept being asked day after day until I said screw it and gave them 25 bucks. I guess they get some sort of prize for having the most donations?
