UPS adopts scanning and paperless labeling device - Atlanta Business Chronicle

UPS (NYSE: UPS) worked with HP for 18 months to develop a mobile, wireless printing/scanning device called the "HP Handheld sp400 All-in-One."

Atlanta-based UPS then built a custom business application to support the device. The new combination scanner and paperless printing device will print millions of sorting labels directly onto packages, UPS said. By eliminating paper labels, it will save 1,338 tons of paper each year and millions of dollars in annual operating costs, it said.

That sounds like what they're using at my center. We just started implementing PAS a few months ago. Looks kind of cool, you wear it like a glove. I see them scanning and then immediately printing on to the package. It prints the info in red right on to box or bag. Stays readable on the plastic bags too.
