UPS Celebrates $1 Billion United Way Partnership at Charlotte NASCAR Race

    In a special tribute to United Way and to all the UPS employees who support that organization, UPS (NYSE:UPS) will change the paint scheme on David Ragan's No. 6 UPS Ford this weekend to prominently feature the United Way logo.

    The design change, for the NASCAR Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Oct. 16, also will see Ragan wear a special United Way helmet and fire suit that will be auctioned to benefit United Way Oct. 15-31.

    The tribute to the charitable organization follows a United Way announcement earlier this summer that UPS had become the first corporate donor ever to surpass $1 billion in contributions to United Way. Since 1982, UPS has provided significant funding and employee volunteer hours for the community in partnership with United Way. UPS has been United Way's top corporate supporter for nine of the past 10 years and has twice won the organization's highest national award, the Spirit of America.

    "We're very proud of the accomplishments our UPS employees have achieved by donating not only monetarily to United Way, but also through the more than 1 million volunteer hours they contribute each year," said Allen Hill, UPS senior vice president of Human Resources. "Featuring United Way on our car in Charlotte is just one way we can say 'thank you' to UPS employees across the world and also to highlight our community partnership in front of NASCAR fans."
