Lol about hiding it better. I bet you never thought you were hiding pkgs from competitive drivers. But with millions in the system, there should be nothing that surprises us.

Golf cart employees can do these things easily as there is no supervision to these people. I delivered a trailer and a Pod this year, both had helpers in uniform (jacket and pants) using a DIAD 5. They could have stolen every single package they delivered as far as I know, and not a single one would be my problem. Management classifies these small occurrences as the "cost of doing business". If it continues to increase to the point is is more cost effective to perform background checks or the publicity of these instances continues to grow, then they'll do something about it, until then it's business as usual.

The news story..
HOUSTON — A Houston man says he caught a UPS employee on video stealing an iPad mini delivered by FedEx.
Al Alverson told KHOU he and his wife were expecting two Christmas gifts they purchased online to be delivered, however when they arrived home, there was only one package on the porch.
Alverson said he received a notification from the delivery company stating the package was dropped off earlier that morning.
“It said it was delivered at 9:29 a.m.,” Alverson told KHOU. “So I go up and I have a DVR with all the cameras on it to take a look.”
When Alverson looked at the video, he saw the iPad Mini was delivered at 9:29 a.m. However, when he looked at the video at the 1:15 p.m. mark, he noticed a UPS delivery driver on his porch.
As shown in the video, the UPS employee picks up the FedEx package and walks away.
The Alversons told KHOU they contacted UPS about the incident. They said they were “getting the run around” until they posted the video on YouTube.
“I got a call this morning and they were very helpful. They promised they would get me a replacement iPad today,” Alverson told KHOU.
UPS told KHOU they were able to identify the UPS employee involved and he was immediately fired. The company said he was “a seasonal worker” who was hired to deliver packages during the holidays.
The employee was also charged with theft, according to the report.

If they started doing background checks we wouldn't get any helpers.

NOT CONDONING THEFT!(Wanted to make that clear) Apple could be a little more discrete with their packaging. Obviously the box doesn't say Apple but a quick glance at the label is a dead give away. Our guy who delivers to the mall said his 10 packs(I think that's how they come) of iPhones routinely have some missing and have been retaped.

Stop with all this blaming the victim. The guy was a thief plain and simple. I'm wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the first time he has done something like this. What is really sad is all this bad publicity could have been avoided. The customer called in a complaint and got the "run around", probably spoke to some clueless 800 number operator or some bad attitude OMS. Add in supervisors who were probably running a route and a business manager who probably spent the greater part of the day on conference calls driving the element du jour and what you will find is not one person who cared enough to go out and see the customer and actually address his legitimate concern.

It was clear from the start that the "UPS" guy in the video was a seasonal helper. He had the old style diad 4 in his hands, his underwear hanging out the back of his pants, earphones on and his pace was slow.

This is what UPS gets for hiring seasonals and placing them on the street with handcarts and tons of packages. Out here, UPS places seasonals on bicycles with carts on the back and drops them off on the street and then dumps hundreds of packages in someones garage where the guys on bikes go back and forth taking packages from.

In January, the DFU ( claims ) go through the roof, and then UPS wants to know what happened...

A simple DUH usually suffices.
