What usually happens is that a year after the injury you will go to the company's doctor and a doctor your lawyer will recommend to you (no joke - GET A LAWYER - listen to these good folks on this site). They will both decide by percentage how much you are disabled from your injury and meet somewhere in the middle. At that point you will have a hearing and receive a settlement. Correct me if I am wrong guys but it usually averages out to about $800 or $900 for every percentage point depending on how much your lawyer is awarded by the judge. You do not have any attorney fees. I believe that first settlement letter you speak of will lead to a hearing (you get paid four hours for that). They will tell you there is no info on your disability and you will have to have another hearing (the one a year later). Anyway that was the way it was before I retired. GET A LAWYER. Good luck Billb.
