Interesting that the most highly compensated UPSer gets paid less than most baseball players.

That's not really the point. My point is if he's worth that much, how about the VP and all the stuff? You can't tell me that we shouldn't trim some of their salaries to keep our union brothers doing their jobs? I thought that was what the union was for? To protect our best interests?

If you check the average median salaries of mlb professional baseball players, you will see that Scott Davis's yearly salary is higher which means most ballplayers make less than he does.

Now if you want to compare his numbers to Alex Rodriguez's yearly salary, thi babe ruth quote comes to mind : 'I know, but I had a better year than (President Herbert) Hoover." - 1930 Babe Ruth response to his salary of $80,000 being more than the President's $75,000

I thought Scott's salary was around 3.1 million while the average baseball player salary is $3,240,000.
Point is still valid I think.
The top 25 baseball players make this:

No. Player / Team Salary
1.3B Alex Rodriguez, NYY $ 33,000,000
2.OF Manny Ramirez, LA$ 23,854,494

I know I will probably be slammed for this reply but, anyway here goes...Honestly tell me the reason why a person has to be BRIBED with cookouts, donuts, ect. to do the job they are paid to do in the first place.
I could never understand this. Lets eliminate whether Ups can pay for it. I just wonder how upset these same people get when they read about public corruption. Isn't it the same thing...taking something to perform the job you are already paid for?

It has positive effects like increasing moral, loyalty, pride. that sorta stupid stuff.

The last part of your statement is where the problem lies. What is the "job" that we as union members are paid for? We are paid to deliver a parcel from point A to point B. How we go about it and the time required to perform this duty is up for interpretation. UPS, say it should take X amount of time and effort to perform task, Union says otherwise. As long both parties disagree, both sides can expect antagonism from the other.

I don't know how to do this multi quote thing but I remember your initial statement is something like " scott davis makes less than most baseball players" .

I might have somewhat different figures for davis' salary and the mlb players salaries but I'll work with yours as they are in the same ballpark(pun not intended but I'll keep it) as mine.

You're quoting me an average which is inflated by the outliers such as the top 25 salaries you offered.

The median of the salaries is different than the average. A median would tell you that half of the players make less than that number and half make more than that number.

I pulled these 2009 numbers off of some website (which I am too lazy to credit):

the median salary (the middle salary amount of all 818 salaries) for MLB players was a cool $1,150,000--up a whopping 15% from the previous year.

If your point is that there ballplayers that make more than Scott Davis, then agreed. But if you are trying to say that most mlb baseball players make more than Scott Davis, then I disagree.
