UPS Mail Solutions becomming real threat to teamster jobs.

I was going to say the exact same thing in reference to working at DHL. Nobody's job is safe at this company anymore. Not someone with 28 days, not someone with 28 years. This company's loyalty is to its stock holders, not it's employees.

If anything, those closest to retirement (that is those who are close to costing the company money to sit at home retired) have the biggest target on their backs.

rea went out of business. DHL backed out when they were losing a billion dollars a year in the United States. what kind of corporate loyalty were you looking for here?

News for you, fax machines have been around for over 25years !

you should familarize yourself with scanners and email exciting innovations that are being given credit for reducing the amount of mail the post office recieves.

I just recently had an automatic bank withdrawel bounce (Didn't know I was $7.00 short in my chequing account).

a drunken mistake. could happen to anyone. Have you heard of online banking another exciting innovation?

Called up the company, and asked them if they could just make another withdrawel.
They said no, I needed to mail in a cheque.

here we use debit cards works instantainously just like a check. you canadians are way behind.
by the way how many beach balls can you buy for seven dollars?

Well, cheques faxed or e-mailed are no good to them, ofcourse.
A lot of documents are not approved if faxed or e-mailed. They want your original signature on that document.

legal documents and a few dinosaurs that still use checques. I wrote approximately 10 checks last year. Used the debit card a heck of a lot more. You are grasping at straws here.

I still get most of my bills, and investment statements by snail mail, too.

all of which you can get electronically and not have to wait on the post office.

The post offices might be downsizing, due to e-mails, but going out of business - just can't see that happening.

And you are a logistics expert for what company?

If I send a xmas card or letter to the US for $1.00, is UPS ready to take it over at the border, and deliver it for even a lower price, after Canada Post gets a cut ?

who cares those kids would be better of if you didnt send them anything.

Or will regular mail suddenly cost $5.00 per letter ?

who cares when you have electronic options.
If so, then the USPS can truely survive at those rates !

I need to go disinfect now before I catch something.

Our debit cards are more advanced then yours. They no longer can be duplicated.
We have chip technoligy in our debit cards.
Reason, why I was so frustrated when they don't work in the US, because the US (only country in the western world) doesn't have chip technoligy yet !

If you don't know what it is, look it up ! It's a micro-chip inside the card.
That black magnetic stripe on the back is old school !

I wrote 1 check last year, and it was only a personal check to somebody else.

I get my cable, telephone, internet bill thru e-mail. (1 bill takes care of them all). But, I admit, I don't like it.
If my internet or pc is down, I don't even know how much to pay them.
Even simpler problems, like not getting access to my e-mail is then frustrating.
And, they don't even give you a discount for e-mail billing either.
If I could turn back time, I rather have the bill sent to me, by snail mail.

Logistics expert ?
You think the USA will be the very first country in the world to totally get rid of the post office ?
No more international or national mail ?
When all they need to do is raise the price of a stamp to 45 cents.
Your the logistic pro, can UPS deliver mail for 45 cents or less (bulk mail is less) ?

Give your head a shake ! Disinfection won't help !

Klein, you're talking about RFID chips, we've had them for years, and they're a security nightmare. Once you give a card the ability to transmit the information on it without physical contact you've now given thieves a way to pickpocket without touching you.

Ok, EMV are still smartcards, which we have had in the US for years. We just don't support the specific version that EMV is.

By no means, is it an "easy pass" !

The chip has to be inserted and read in the debit machine.
You can't just swipe it ! Those days are over !

Klein,
If you are so down on the USA- stay out, stay home, and leave us alone!
I am sick and tired of your pandering about how Canada is superior in EVERYTHING.
Fine- we've all heard your opinion and all disagree. Move on and try and conquer some other country.

Hey, go back, Tie started it, saying we don't have debit cards here !
I just defended that fact, and that we actually have better secure ones.

And to get back on topic :
We also haven't had Saturday mail delivery since the early 70's.

And our postal service is still making profits, year by year.
(but at a cost of 54 cents per stamp + 5% Gst)

Hey, go back to your first ever post. Nothing but non stop blathering about how we do everything wrong, Canaduh is God, and how the rest of the world is so superior also. Your a broken record and one few want to listen to on top of it.

Gee wiz all that advanced technology and yet you're still carving out checks in stone. go figure.

So now in an effort to prove canada has the best debit card technology you suddenly admit that checques and the need for mail is on its way out.

Make up your mind.

Says the guy who still plays with stuffed animals. Zing, right back at ya....

huh? thats a zing? the stuffed animal pic was posted here by another poster ( thank You more) i then borrowed it.

Meanwhile you stuck your foot so far in your mouth you inverted yourself speaking on your 401 K/ investment mastery. You and klein should share investment tips with each other and share the results with us. Just remember canada does it better , whatever it is.

maybe I can find a youtube video of a fiery plane crash to give us all a visual.

I must sometime visit the Eden that is Canada....

It's not an Eden.
Now listen to you guys .... you just want to listen to the right or the left.
Dems or Reps, who to choose from, who's better, bla , bla, bla.

But, no one here seems to want to look outside their country to see how things are done there, or why small little Germany was the top exporter of the world, until last year.
No, we can't look over there, every country except the US is a socialist country. No way can we do it their way , right ?
Who cares how they got out of the recession. - They are socialist.
America needs more tax cuts, that's the solution !

And don't touch our valuble US healthcare ! We don't care if the US employer has to pay $1200 per month per worker, and can't compete on a global basis.
And don't care that it's double the cost, then any other country pays for healthcare, where actually everyone is insured.

Maybe instead of watching Fox News daily, tune in atleast weekends to BBC and there is also a newsmagazine on called European Journal.
I find it quite interesting lately, what measures they put in place to calm down the financial crises, and to get their spending under control.
Tough decisions that the US will be facing soon.

All I'm saying is, sometimes it's good to look outside the box.
I sure hope your politicians aren't like some of you.
Because, if they don't look what the rest of the world is doing, then the USA will just fall further and further behind.

Lets see...

Post office is not on its way out ....check
still a need for mail - check
post office will charge five bucks a stamp and stay viable - check
OH canada has the best debit cards - check
technology is eliminating the need for mail - check
Oh Canada! Canadian Post office is still making money - check

And now we're onto an unprovoked political argument a right or left choose what fits argument......
