UPS named ‘Cargo Airline of the Year’ - Atlanta Business Chronicle

United Parcel Service Inc.’s UPS Airlines division has been named 2009 “Cargo Airline of the Year” by industry trade publication Air Transport World.

The award was based on UPS Airlines’ history of successful global growth, expansion into heavy freight and commitment to safety and technological innovation, Atlanta-based UPS (NYSE: UPS) said in a news release.

UPS Airlines has the world’s ninth-largest airline fleet, with 266 aircraft. It has more than 1,900 daily flights into 800 airports in more than 200 countries and territories around the world.

Good thing the award wasn't based on the "good and decent treatment of employees".

    Last quarter profit $245 million.....

Money blown on loser race car...$10 - $20 million

    Layoffs - 60 mechanics

Down sizing due to lack of freight.....but wait, whats this

UPS is buying 27 new 767s for untold millions

    Yeah, times are tough indeed.
